Gen Zia and Mr Rajiv had developed trust and had already reached major agreement but matters could not come to conclusion as both unfortunately did not remain on scene. It is true that Mr Gandhi on the day of aircrash which killed Grn Zia was most aggrieved person and had said that now we would never reach any solution in future as the man who could have solved it was not there.. Peace process got derailed just because both were not there one after the other left for ever.

Lol... I just could see from the reaction from Rajiv Gandhi that he has been told to keep quiet by intelligence agencies and let zia talk . The same way Manmohan singh was directed. One of the intelligence person later said the strategy during congress rule.
