I was 13 in 1963 and I purchase every Beatles album and single along with others like The Beach Boys, Stones, Dylan and a lot of Motown. I still have every record I ever brought as they are prized possessions. At ;east 40 feet of shelves in my rec room, literally thousands of them, most in very good condition. I also have my Silvertone mono record player my sister brought me around 1962 so I can still play my 45s. My first 45 was Telstar by the Tornados.

The first time I heard this Beatles single would have been around the time it was just released Nov 1964. I was at home home with my Sister when in came her friend Sandra, she was holding a brand new Beatles single 45 , so my sister played it on the stereo radiogram...and they both danced to "I Feel Fine."

When this came out in England on a Friday I went into to town to buy it when the music shop opened at 9 am. There was a queue, I was about twentieth in the queue. The record store had a stack of I Feel Fine on the counter and every body who went in bought the new Beatles single, like me. No other records were sold whilst I was there and by Sunday, two days later, it was Number One on the British charts, which were announced on the BBC on a programme called Pick of The Pops. I took it to a Christmas party the next day and boy was I popular...

Love your comments at the end. So much to think about. And it's strange to think this year that they blew up are pretty much some of my earliest memories from say preschool and kindergarten. So they just infiltrated the fabric of my being. And of course by early grade school, you have pretty good recall of lots of things and then the Beatles were even more prevalent. And that just continued. And then they stopped. And it was a huge deal across the world. But then we enjoyed their solo stuff. And then when I was a senior in high John got murdered. It was such a crazy roller coaster ride for a band, but their music is still so available today, and regardless, it's always in my head and in my heart. ❤

On the feedback, from the Playboy interview 1980: "I claim it for the Beatles. Before Hendrix, before The Who, before anybody. Even these earlier Beatles songs are like perfect jigsaw puzzles. Ringo is just incredible with this and it interplays so well with Paul's bass guitar line, but then again that guitar riff is counterpoint to even all of that, and it's what gives the song even more energy, and then of course you've got the vocals doing their dominant thing on top as well, including judicious but wonderful bursts of reinforcing harmony here and there.

One of my favorite early Beatles songs. Everyone’s on, incredible harmonies, Ringo’s going nuts, first-ever feedback, and just a confident coolness to the whole thing. Ringo stood up for himself when he thought he needed to. For instance, on “With a Little Help From My Friends”, the lyrics said “…if I sang out of tune, would you throw ripe tomatoes at me?” He refused to sing it.

I Feel Fine released in Nov. 1964 by The Beatles, is generally cited as the first use of feedback in a pop song; in this case, as an intro. In May 1965, The Who release Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere, another song using guitar feedback this time as part of the actual song embedded within the guitar solo. A gigantic step forward in artistic use and control over electronic sounds in pop. By the end of 1966, you get Jimi Hendrix in London re-imagining what guitar work in a pop song can mean.

The market was flooded with them my sophomore year and wow! They were SO AWESOME! No one cared that everyone else were wearing a pair! First use of feedback on a record. Hey, at least they got paid better than most most bands of the era. And of course the songwriting is awesome.

George is always mocking the lip sync.

It seems the Beatles didn't really care for lip syncing their songs so they made a bit of a mockery of this video, but all in good fun with Ringo on a bicycle and George just mouthing strange words in the middle of the song there. But a great song nonetheless and it's fun to hear your take on these classic songs.

Director: "I know, let's pretend the band is in a gym, and make them interact with barbells, a punching bag, and an exercise bike for no reason whatsoever. But be sure not to show their hands when they're playing the guitar."

I think John was strumming the chords and George was playing the lead. The feedback gives it a more modern sound than their previous stuff.

John plays lead here, George on rhythm. John wrote the guitar riff 👍🏻

One of their finest. Pulled over to say hi in the live chat 😊 As to Ringo, blame the system if anything as that is what’s pandered to here, I think. Pretty boys pushed forward, drummer an afterthought. I doubt there was any ill intention - “different times back then” and boy bands were big business.

Yeah, I’ve heard they were pretty big. These guys totally were so much more than that and I’m glad they grew back out of this image. They still rocked it don’t get me wrong but the future Beatles stuff is like, a whole new band at points. It’s crazy.

@@L33Reacts Yeah. I love it all - when one of these hits comes on the radio in the car, you’ll sing your heart out. Other times, late at night, you’re across the universe ❤️ Ooh, not seen your reaction to that yet!

I just googled that The Beatles wrote 188 original songs in their career. If you count their career as 1962 to 1970 ( I know they formed in 1957 but they were really a covers band in the early years) that's an average of 23.5 per year. That is amazingly prolific!

Who knows for sure, but supposedly that intro where there is guitar and amp feedback? Supposedly it's the first intentional recorded use of that in a studio recording.
