All the tracks on The Ladder are great. I wish you would just go straight through them sequentially. The Jon Anderson song you did the day before this one reminds me of Lightning Strikes, the 3rd song on The Ladder. Please do this whole album! You'll be the first, I believe, to react to them on KZbin!

Loved this when it came out. It was made for a video game after the makers who were YES fans asked them to make a song for them. They agreed. The sound effects came from it. I feel like it was their last really epic song with Jon A. Where to next... Off of this album listen to at least "Lightening Strikes" which is a short fun one where Chris kills it. "The Messenger" & "Nine Voices" which is a good Jon and Steve feature. Other albums.. "Magnification" if you haven't yet, The first album "Beyond & Before," "Harold Land," or "Survival." For non-Jon, listent to "Fly From Here Part 1,2, &3" with Benoit David on vocals. Non-YES YES listen to Steve's work on "Sketches in the Sun" or "When the Heart Rules the Mind" from the 80's supergroup GTR. Alan White's solo funk rock, "Ramshackled" full album is still a must. Still a lot of YES out there!

So glad you finally got to hear this, Lee! I love The Ladder and if I wasn't broke I would have requested this song for you months ago. The producer was really in sync with the band and they sound great - shame that story had such a sad ending. Hope you keep exploring this album and look into the House Of Blues DVD to see this version of the band live.

Steve Howe plays lead guitar and Billy Sherwood plays rhythm. Igor Khoroshev was a great fit for Yes in the absence of Wakeman, though he lacked Wakeman's compositional skills, and he could perform all the big epics flawlessly live; "Awaken", "The Gates of Delirium", "The Revealing Science of God", etc. And Jon Anderson is simply a freak of nature, in the best possible sense. Still sounding great at the age of 79, with his new band, The Band Geeks. Kudos to Alan White as well. He was excellent on this album along with his battery mate, Chris Squire.

This is one of the few post-70's Yes songs that authentically recaptures the old magic. Working with a good producer was a huge bonus (Bruce Fairbairn, RIP), plus they had a keyboard player (briefly) who could deliver 70's keyboard sounds. It's not a perfect song (the ending is weak and anti-climactic IMO), but the way the vocal arrangement builds through the modulations toward the end and hits that peaks never fails to give me that old time dopamine rush. BTW, all of the upfront guitar is Steve. Billy just picked at an electric 12-string on this one, plus he lent backing vocals. He was mainly on board for this album because he had helped Yes get through the previous year or two, and he and Chris were buddies. But following this period of touring they parted ways, with Chris actually saying that Billy was 'surplus to requirements'. Ouch! 😟

I always thought Homeworld and Awaken would have made great soundtracks to spectacular Sci Fi movies. You could imagine fantastic starships on voyages to distant worlds with this stuff.

Great song! I either like or love every track on this album, except for the last two and even they are decent, listenable songs. This is a very upbeat album, and my favorite is a Rocker called "Lightning Strikes." It's pretty hard. ❤😀✌

Lee........You do know Billy Sherwood is the current bass player for YES. It was Chris Squire's wish for Billy to take the bass duties after Chris was gone. They were also good friends. Billy is a muti-instrumentalist.

Lee: Looking at your Yes playlist, it looks like you still haven't reacted to The Calling, which is the opening track from their Talk album. That's my suggestion. This Homeworld was a great one to react to, as I consider it the last truly strong Yes composition that is filled with surprises that all serve the song. As for some more member's solo work reaction suggestions, try Statue Of Justice from Rick Wakeman's Criminal Record album. Alan and Chris are on it and absolutely SMOKE! Plus Trevor Rabin's song Can't Look Away is huge. Keep up the great work bro - I live for these Saturdays with Yes.

Best song by far on the album - hints of past glory there. Most of the others are rather forgettable. "Can I?" and the closer "Nine Voices" are also pretty good but are all too short in duration. As far as future recommendations go, while the album "Open Your Eyes" is trash, some of the Keys to Ascension studio tracks from the mid-90's are definitely worth a listen.

I do not know what's going on between you and You Tube but for the past 3 months your Yes videos on Saturday are not being displayed on my You Tube page....I have to hunt for your reactions to Yes on Saturday....I have written a complaint to You Tube on their deliberate AI display of biases! YES’s The Ladder experience two tragedies when 1st) they’re producer Bruce Fairbairns died during the final mix (I believe) he didn’t show up to the studio & Jon went to his home & found him dead. 2nd) on the Friday night before the 9/11 terrorist attack they performed at Madison Sq. Garden & then The Ladder was released on 9/20/2001 a week after the attack, & both of those things worked against the release of another wonderful YES Album. YES IS BEST!!!
