I was there! Opening night of this tour in Pensacola FL. Actually got to the front row and the stage was in the round which rotated. They opened with "Yours Is No Disgrace" What an amazing concert!

​​@@L33Reacts I'm catching up on your reactions and Yes is one of my favorite bands. To understand part of the back story of Yes, is that Jon Anderson left and returned to the band multiple times and the last time experienced respiratory failure in the middle of a tour and his recovery time was for a while unknown. It was years before he could sing and tour again. That's why there is and have been different lead singers for Yes, in recent history.

I love the Union album, there's some great songs on it, IMO, but the band hated making it; however, they had a great time on the Union Tour. BTW, Jon is very spiritual, but he is also very Alpha. He was the leader of the band, wrote the majority of the songs, either by himself or with Steve (usually), and he pushes the direction of the band, causing a lot of tension between band members, which is why Steve refuses to work with him anymore. Steve's old and doesn't want to put up with a bunch of head butting. Also, L33, Jon Anderson &The Band Geeks are releasing a new album in a few months, which they say is like a new Yes album, and the first track was just released. The song is called "Shine On," and it's very good, probably one of the best "Yes" songs in a long time, IMO. I think you'll enjoy it. ❤✌

I have been a huge YES fan since almost the beginning but in the early 90s, I missed the Union tour and other shows. I was a little busy raising new babies 👶 So, I'm super thankful for these videos and your reaction to take me there!! I just saw Jon Anderson, performed with the Band Geeks, for the 2nd year in a row. He's a marvel of nature, a treasure. I love how young he looked here in the Union show. How I so still miss the incomparable Chris Squire 😢 but I'm so grateful that his and YES' music lives on to enjoy today. 💚💚💚

Bill: One critic put it very well, I thought: He said that Alan White was the meat and potatoes and I was the hollandaise sauce. Trevor: Bill has no pretenses and no ego. He's purely a musician. He's an amazing, wonderful guy ... I got on very well with Bill and Rick and although Steve and I had differences of opinion of how things should be approached, we still got by okay. People think there was animosity between us and there wasn't any, really. It was just difficult for the two of us. Bill: I think Trevor is enormously talented ... They couldn't find a common meeting ground in the guitar playing; they weren't being difficult--they tried ... With this band, all we have to do is turn up on stage--and not fight--and the people are thrilled. We don't even have to play a single note and they go absolutely wild... I was there to be well paid and I was also there for old time's sake and to spend a happy summer with some old acquaintances. Rick: The Union tour was a wonderful tour... undoubtedly the most enjoyable Yes tour I ever did ... I have a stunning respect for Trevor Rabin. We've become bossom pals. For a lot of the stuff that he did in the eighties, he said, "Imagine that you were in the band with me then. Here's the music. What would you do with it? Trevor: The strange thing is the Union tour was quite fun once it started to get going ... I loved working with Rick. Rick and I got on tremendously well, musically and personally. I got on with everyone else, but Rick in particular was a good moment for me. Chris: Jon and I had spoken about doing this reunion for quite a few years. When it was finally suggested I was a bit reticent about the reunion. But I was surprised at how well it worked out... I honestly didn't think I was going to get on with Rick, because I could never quite grasp his sense of humor in the past... However, as it turned out, the pleasant surprise was that it was completely the opposite. He was very sweet and we had a very good time together... And there never really was a problem with ABWH and Yes y'know. It all worked out in the end!

I saw then during this tour in Cologne, Germany. It was not the first time I saw them. So I knew what to expect. But I was not ready to experience how great a P.A. can be set up. Normally they are so loud that not only nuances are totally lost. In this case I could even understand the lyrics as clear as on my HiFi. Unbelievable good work by the engineers.

Bruford is one of my favorite drummers, Top 4 All Time for sure (Neil Peart, Carter Beauford, Phil Collins and Bruford). Just such unique playing style. His rhythms and polyrhythms are just jaw dropping.

Squire's outfit was from the Going for the One tour in 77 - he's donned it a few times since, sure got milage out of it. What I've seen and read White and Bruford had the least bit of ego, then Raban - all the others were huge - hence the revolving door of Yes. Unfortunately, that was what was required to make this incredible band.

In the 70's early 80's, in their genre, no one could touch what they were doing re musicianship. And with the live music/lightshows - took it to another level for the acid scene - which was substantial.

Rabin might be in his late 30's, the rest of the band were in their 50/60's at this point. I saw them at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, CA on the 90210 tour, One of the best shows ever. Saw Bruford with King Crimson later that year, Mind blowing stuff

Those ages of the band members aren't accurate. This was 1991 Trevor was indeed 37 that year, so you got that right. But Jon was 47; Bill, Rick & Alan were 42; the others in between those two ages.

Wakeman called the album Onion because it made him cry. The tour was pretty amazing, especially in the round. There were a few potential Spinal Tap moments but the playing was stunning. My favourite part was Trevor Rabin playing excerpts from Six Wives of Henry VIII on solo guitar. Could not believe my ears. Apparently this track was written as a sort of response to Schizoid Man: look how fast we can play. BTW have you checked out Jon Anderson with the Band Geeks? I'm becoming a serious fan.

Jon's vocals haven't faded (significantly). It boggles the mind for lead signers in concert singing the same song hundreds of times over and over, and still delivering like it's fresh & new.

The problem with Jon and it goes back decades is that his lyrics are often so complicated that he blows them in concert. I've seen him do that more than any other lead singer.

I do think Chris was the driving force that kept the band together. The problem began when Jon got sick and had to take a break and the other guys decided to go on without him, though it was a band decision, many people blamed Chris as he was a leader.

If you want to do a track off the _Union_ album, your best option is "Miracle of Life", which is pretty Rabin-heavy but surprisingly has the most proggish elements. The album as a whole was a disjointed mess, with no true collaboration between all eight members, but a few of the tracks are decent, if not stellar.

Actually there were more shots of Alan than you took notice of.The cameraman seemed to favor Bill though. Interesting as Bruford had decided to 'move on' from Yes after Close to the Edge. Also when Rabin was in the band, it was his lead on Owner of a Lonely Heart but other commitments kept him from touring with the band at 1st and they asked Steve Howe to learn it and he refused and somehow, their keyboardist at the time was able to imitate it. I Like Rabin but he came in at a time, when it seemed like there was a trend wherein groups like Jefferson Airplane/Starship, Fleetwood Mac, The Doobie Brothers and then Yes, were infusing new people seemingly with attempting to achieve a more 'commercial' sound. I had to ask, "Does Yes really need another guitarist, singer, song writer in the band"???

I saw the Union concert at Wembley Arena. Didn’t work for me and the acoustics were bad. Left early with a headache. ABWH better 😊 The rigidly enforced no-smoking policy at Wembley may have contributed 😂
