So I scanned the comments from the last weekly Hendrix video and the gist was take a shot and you'll hit something good. And, this one was brought up a few times. Good god am I glad I picked this or what. How does he keep doing it?? Every. Single. Time..... this was one of the best hendrix songs I've ever heard (as a new fan lol)

Man, your entire epilog was like watching a train just heading towards the top of a precipice, suddenly clearing it. And then really going full speed down the decling hill, and that's what you did, and I loved every second of it. You did do a great job calling out Today's music VS what we just listened to. I'll bet anything, the performers today can't actually read music or trust their voices to be heard without technology, or to even simply play an instrument of any kind.

@@claytonpaul4259 Oh. Yes, for sure. Jimmy isn't the only one many, many big names for that period of time Didn't read music, and obviously by their success. They didn't need to, but they got music. They understood music and they could make music. So basically I didn't intend on inferring that everyone in a certain era could read music. I was only trying to refer to then and now and I stand by what I said, especially about the now.

Lee, you can literally check out just about any song from ANY of the Winterland shows and get blown away. The man's innovation and improvisational ability is unmatched. At least in the rock field. To me, the more I listen to him - and I've been doing that for 42 years - the more I put him with jazz giants like Charlie Parker and John Coltrane. It's that level. No other blues or rock guitarist can touch him. And your reactions are doing the man justice by the way. Hendrix. Dylan. The Who. That's it man.

Your rants are beautiful.. and totally nail it. Hey, times were different then. Record stores and radio was the internet in those days. Go back to the turn of the 20th century and all the popular music of the 20's, 30's, and 40's, you'll find common threads with the progression of music from the 50's, 60's, and 70's. It's all cool. The new music is formulaic. No-one's letting it all hang out. Or maybe everything has already been written.
