Bon Scott, the definition of a FRONT MAN. In the mode of Steven Tyler, Robert Plant, David Lee Roth, Ozzy Osborne and Roger Daltry. He and Angus were the heart and soul of AC/DC, while Malcolm, Phil and Cliff were holding down the fort. THIS is the true AC/DC.

Believe it or not, Angus Young didn't drink alcohol or do drugs at all. He just had a non stop motor. Bon Scott on the other hand did enough for both of them. I got to see AC/DC twice in 1977 on there first American tour. I've been a fan for over 47 years. They were a pure hard rock band for all times.

I've got a ticket stub from a 77' show in Tennessee framed on my wall, but I wasn't there. I would have been 12 at the time. My then 16 year old brother went. I can remember him coming home they had blown his mind. He gave me the stub the next day. It live in a box of junk for the next nearly twenty years. I bought an Angus and Malcolm signed Australian release TNT and framed it with the stub

No drugs other than caffeine and nicotine for Angus Young. I like to call him a professional rockstar. He’s truly one of the most humble rockstars to ever hit the stage. He was asked in an interview “how does it feel being the best guitarist in rock n roll?” And he replied “I’m not even the best guitarist in the band.” He’s and absolute legend and there’s a very deep rabbit hole to go down to see just how great he is. He’s not the most technical and doesn’t play anything super complicated but he knows how to get tens or hundreds of thousands of people hanging on every note he plays because of his passion and enthusiasm. They will always be my favourite band and I love hearing people tell me all their songs sound the same. If anyone else put out songs that all sound the same they wouldn’t be top ten selling artists of all time like AC/DC lol they know what they’re doing. Keep doing live performances. It’s what they play for. Official music videos are just a teaser. I’ve seen them live twice and no other band sounds as good as they do. And I’ve seen a lot of shows. They were born to rock stadiums 🤘🏼

Angus and Malcolm Young were born to rock, their older brother was already a star in the Easybeats and these two were tearing it up as teenagers. They're all little guys who are jam packed with adrenaline, even if there was some powders around with or without them they blazed like flaming comets for hours at a time . Insane absolutely

I saw them a year later on the Highway to Hell Tour at a very small indoor arena and it was one of the best rock concerts I have ever seen, and I've been to a ton of them and played in so many venues with other bands later in life. This was actually a pretty good look at it to give you an idea. One difference at least in one of the songs, was where Angus Young got on the shoulders of this really huge bouncer dude, who then walked into the audience and up and down the various steps of this small arena. And that was back when remotes were new so he solo'd hard for a long time, like maybe 15 minutes. Covered every seat in the place. Meanwhile the band was just rocking away and Bon was driving the people in the front crazy by interacting with them and doing his antics. At one point, Angus came by me in that extended roving guitar solo; he was flinging his hair everywhere and he was so drenched in sweat it was insane, and I can see how beat up his guitar was and the worn decals on the back of it and so forth and then he flung his head right as he went by me and some of the sweat went right into my eye and it stung. I was quite honored, lol. If you think about watching this in 1978 or 1979, it's really no surprise that I got into ounk and thrash only three years later. Maybe two. This represented the essence of what was to come.

AC/DC were huge in Australia and elsewhere before Brian Johnson. I remember when Bon Scott died the whole country was in shock we thought that was it for AC/DC but then one of the greatest albums of all time was released by the group. Back in black. AC/DC was back.

Just like the rest of the band would give 110% every fu*#ing time they'd go on a stage. Similarly top notch professional as the Ramones. They would act very much the same way. They'd really get at each other's throat if one of them didn't give it all during a gig. 😀

Have you watched KZbin videos of the very beginning of AC/DC called *The Forgotten Sydney of AC/DC. It’s great. I love the 2nd drummer, the Italian Pizza maker 👍 I’m serious, they were all originally dressed in costumes, and so much more.

Thanks for that mate. Every time i get to see or hear a bit of Bon Scott, my mood lifts considerably. Personally, i think Bon Scott was the epitome of a rock n roll frontman...he just oozed charisma and danger and his voice sounded like two alley cats fighting...pure gold! By the way, Angus is anti-drugs. He has a severe coke habit but its the cola type, and he chain smokes like no one else but has little time for alcohol, let alone anything hard. Bon Scott, on the other hand, was much more liberal when it came to alcohol and drugs.

Saw them the following year ('79 - I was 18). Loudest concert I ever attended. Best concert of my life (Band-Maid comes close). Angus energy was incredible and is still unmatched, and Bon was the perfect frontman. And gone the next year 😟. Btw: back then, you didn't hear their songs on the radio (it would start with "Highway to Hell") BUT they were on the juke-box in the cafe near my school - that's where I heard "Whole Lotta Rosie" for the first time!

57 Yr old Glaswegian here. I was there that night and it was fkn awesome. Proper sweat fest. I remember Angus came thru the crowd one row in front of me and my mates on the shoulders of a roadie at one point. Gigs were always wild and the Apollo was an incredible venue. Lee I saw AC/DC in August 24,1978 at the Palladium in NYC and they were so damn good.. So good that the band (Rainbow) that they opened for only played two or three songs because the audience who were there to see them were screaming AC/DC during their set. Crazy good stuff and you are right about how lucky we all were to have lived in this era of music! I pinch myself all the time because it was so surreal seeing the greatest bands live in their prime….Btw check out Whole Lotta of Rosie from this era!!!

Phil Rudd is such an underrated drummer. He's the master of minimalism yet a human metronome. He's so deep in the pocket. You know it's hard to play that simple best in that time signature for 8 minutes straight

@@Swonder1972 I'm referring to the uneducated listeners out their who always say "I can play drums for AC/DC and i don't even play the drums" they say that because Phil hardly plays any fills...but to me that makes him even more great...hell, he don't even have a ride cymbal and never has he used s click or anything in his ears...he's like "I'll do my thing in perfect time, swing a bit so I don't sound stiff and everyone else follow along. Even Malcolm praised him in several interviews stating when Simon and Chris played for them when Phil needed a time out it was never quite the AC-DC sound

I was lucky enough to grow up In Australia at the perfect time for music. Got to see these guys with the brilliant Bon Scott live so many times as a teenager in the mid 70’s in Melbourne and they were fricking awesome even then!! Blew our ears off and of course we were all hooked on rock and especially them after seeing their gigs. Bon had so much charisma and always interacted with audiences. Plus he loved the girls and always had a naughty twinkle in his eye. He will always be their frontman to me, I have no interest in seeing them with Brian at all. Oh, and they (apart from Brian) consider themselves to be Australian, which is why Malcolm came home to die. This is their soul home always

Saw them at Day on the Green in Oakland on this tour. Ted Nugent, Blue Oyster Cult, Journey (Steve Perry's first tour), AC/DC and Cheap Trick. We had never heard of AC/DC and they blew the crowd away. Made us instant AC/DC fans. I went out and bought the Powerage album the next day.

This is my favourite song of all time. The best sounding live performance was released on the Bonfire box set, played live in Paris. Might have been 1979 but I’m not sure. I don’t believe there’s footage. The video of the studio recording is worth a look too. Bon broke his leg jumping over the rest of the band from the pulpit in a church and they had to use studio footage for the remainder of the video.
