Phew boy.... he made Jimi proud wherever his energy may be existing. This was transcendent at points. He was totally possessed at points. I mean you can't get much closer then this if you are covering Jimi. Gary and the band (couldn't find a personnel list) but they all did great. Thank you to our patron Robert K for this AMAZING request.

Dude you need to to play Philip Sayce if you want to be blown away by a man who embodies hendrix and stevie with his own spin and he is around 40 or so. He is a great person I met him at the Internation guitar festival in Dallas Tx. I can send the link if you want. He is pretty much an independent artist who has played with Jeff Healey and Melissa Etheridge. He is on tour right now but you will be blown away and he could use the exposure. He actually was born in Wales and grow up in Canada and his folks were huge clapton srv and beatles fans. Like I said & I know I’m not a payteon subscriber but I try to watch all you reactions. So let me know if that is a possibility. He does this particular version of Who Knows. He is phenomenal and has many video’s on KZbin class act in every sense and road tested for many years. He is obscure and under the radar but dude light is shining bright and he isn’t self destructive. Alright my brother there’s my pitch you won’t be sorry. And neither will your subscribers. I’m a guitarist with huge srv and hendrix influences but this guy blow me away. Alright I’m done. By the Gary Moore is a monster guitarist and a big influence as well and his jam faces are iconic. His music flows out of him like the mouth of the Mississippi river.

I saw Gary Moore a couple of times in the 1980's, so that's the era that has the best memories for me. Not so much his later blues recordings. That said the Gary Moore performance I would recommend is Flight of the Snow Moose (audio only) from his fusion period in the late 1970's, doubly recommended because it has Simon Phillips on the drums.

I think Gary clicked Jimi in about at the start of the wah pedal section. Before the solos, when he was singing, the guitar chops between vocal lines were standard blues fills. After the solo, the guitar echoed and paralleled the vocal melody, which was Hendrix signature stuff. Gary could play some.

Kills it every time. The tone. Little speakers can't do this justice. We just went to the Experience Hendrix show last week, if you can get to the west coast I'm pretty sure they got more shows. Zak Wyld, Eric Johnson, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, so many more epic players. The drummer is from Stevie Ray Vaughns band, and they just go through the hits and it's amazing. I think Gary may have been involved at the onset of the tour they've been doing maybe since the 90's.

That is because your taste buds are not fully developed. I love Gary but his blues has nowhere the imagination and variation like Jimi's. I can't stand this version. It is one cliché fest. Very well executed. Compare this to the San Diego version by Jimi and you think this is anywhere near that one, or even better, you have completely lost your sense.

I think stylistically Paul's might be better, but speed wise they might be tied. Also check yngwies version. IMO those and Gary's are the 3 best. At the very least, please check Paul's version. You really should take a look at one of Taj Farrant's performances of this. I believe he played it at his NAMM show last year, too. To backtrack, Taj plays it more in the style of Gary Moore, which makes sense because he's his favorite guitar player. Taj is 15 and recently released his first album, which went #2 on Billboard Blues charts and #1 on iTunes worldwide blues charts. It also has 6 of his original songs on it that also were #1 when they were released. The album is now under Grammy Consideration for Best Blues Contemporary Album. Taj has been selling out shows on his tour across country and appearing at several big blues events and coming away from them as the standout performer among attendees. Taj opened a few shows for Buddy Guy and he is going to be one of the performers on the Jimi Hendrix Experience tour for a few shows next week. He attracts a more mature audience which is surprising at first when you consider he's 15. I flew to Phoenix to see him and words cannot describe how good he is and how you feel watching him play. Mind blowing! I look forward to seeing him again. There's a reason he has people coming from around the country again and again to watch him. The best thing is he's a really nice humble kid and his parents are amazing! I really like his mom. She's so sweet. It would be fun to see you react to Gary Moore playing Parisienne and live at Montreux and then watch Taj play it at one of his recent shows or I know his performance at City Winery in Nashville is really good. He takes Gary's amazing playing and puts his contemporary blues touch on it...amazing.
