Was it pretty hard to build or get running? I have a 69 skidaddler with the same type of engine it's been sitting since the late 70s idk where to start with it. It still has compression though.

Paul Whyte Very easy to get running ... clean the points & flywheel then clean the carb with the correct adjustments.

I'm having problems getting mine to spark, do the wires coming out of the motor that would go to a key need to be "hot wired" or connected?

+Chris Landry If you don't have a key to turn it on .... Unplug all wires from the ignition switch.... tape them off and don't allow them to touch each other. You should have spark.

Thanks. Looks like a nice engine. Sounds like there is some room for Improvements with 380cc. My Rotax 335 is 20hp@5500rpms. My 340 TNT 26hp@6500rpms both with Mufflers. The Blizzard 340 Single was 36hp@????rpms with a Tuned Pipe.

@@SkiZoom1 Yea, I found a good book on these old Sled Motors, it says L380 (80mm x 72mm) 372.1cc and same 23.5hp@5000rpm you gave. Largest JLO listed was L395 (82.5mm x 72mm) 395.7cc 24.5hp@5000rpm. Doesn't say what CR they used. L380 used HR1 or HD 1 Carb, L395 used HD 1 Carb. Don't know what Size they are. Be interesting to see what it could make with some Improvements done. I just bought a 292 TNT Sled and it has a 38mm Carb on it.
