God bless you brother. Just got diagnosed with a L5S1 grade 1 pars defect. Been healthy and active all my life but this last episode hurt like @#$&. Just doing research now. Early stages of treatments. Lots of questions and doubts. Good luck and I will pray for you.

Congratulations on fatherhood. Thanks for your videos. I had my TLIF done 3 weeks back at L4-L5 levels. I can walk for an hour pain free. However, lying down and getting up from lying down is very painful. I wake up with a lot of pain. Once I am up and moving, the pain slowly subsides. I am 35 years old. I was a 5 feet 9 inches female. Post surgery I am 5 feet 10 inches. I stopped Tramadol 4 days back. I don't take any painkiller now.

Thank you! Glad they helped. Glad to hear you're doing so well! I am 6 feet 3 inches and I am nearly 6 feet 4 inches now as well. I used to hunch over (forwards) all the time but not anymore. Congrats on your recovery. I went up and down with pain and feelings. I am now 9 months out, and starting to feel sore again more often after sitting most of the day for my desk job. Moving around makes me feel better always. Motion is lotion :) Hang in there! I am a fellow 35 year old, I think we did it right. Congrats on your recovery again, and hang in there!

@@dylanandersen2159 thanks buddy!! We sure did the right thing. Thanks for your videos. They keep me going. Ever since my teenage years I have been hunching forward. My posture has improved greatly. Trying to lose some weight after doctor recommended the same. I guess losing weight will help with prevention of adjacent level disease as well. Do keep updating. Your videos keep us going and encourage us to hang in there. Enjoy fatherhood 😀

@@moneybhandal8497 hey man I was diagnosed with spondylolythesis l5-s1 Grade 1 back in 2019. The pain has been manageable but I have trouble urinating for past 1 and a half year. Neurosurgeon says TLIF surgery would fix that. Do you have spondylolythesis L5-S1 and did you face urinary issue or something similar?

Had the same but they added s1-l5-l4 but mine was done for foot pain and bad numbness. Still there but not as intense. Back doesn’t hurt much though.

Hello Dylan. I had the same procedure for the same defect as you. I am almoat 8 months post op, struggling with achy pain on my left side around the SI Joint area. Its a burning achy feeling. Did you also experience something similar? My surgeon recommend that should it not get better I will have to go for MRI again to see where the problem is. Either SI joint, lever above fusion on refered pain.

Hey man I have been advised by the neurosurgeon to go for TLIF L5-S1 surgery as well. I was diagnosed with spondylolythesis L5-S1 back in early 2019. I do have constant pain but it's manageable to the point where it doesn't bother me much except those flare ups that happen once in a while. My real issue is trouble in urinating as even when I have a strong urge to urinate I am only able to urinate 4-5 seconds or sometimes not at all even if I strain a lot. Neurosurgeon says that urinary issue would go away once I have the surgery. My question is did you have any similar issue with urinary discharge or was it just the excruciating pain that made you go through the surgery? I'm really confused if I should go for the surgery or not.

Wasn't cleared for that with my single-level until about 4 to 6 months. I would assume it would be longer or different for multi-level? Hang in there.

Thank you man! Honestly, month 5.5 month 6 kind of hit and I noticed that they really started to fade. Sure, my calfs get incredibly tight if I sit down for long periods of time but it's bearable. Like it was kind of a wild thing, I didn't notice it until one day I noticed that .. I wasn't noticing it. That's a great sign. You'll get here and you'll be so pumped you did. I wish, again, that I knew just how long and 24/7 the recovery was going to be. But I'm happy to have come this far. The light is there, just keep going man!

I'm incredible. I feel "normal" again and it's only at the end of the day when I lay in bed that I remember I had surgery. I make sure to never stop moving even though I work an office job and sit down for 10 hours a day.

Hello! Thank you so much for this video. I would just like to clarify that you are saying that at 8 months post op you are feeling much better than you did at 6 months? I am exactly 6 months now (same surgey) and I still feel really sore amd tender and like I am nursing this surgey and I am terrified I will never get back to the gym and doing the activities I did before surgey (things I did even with my injury I don’t feel I can do now or ever). Have you improved a lot since 6 months? Is there hope for me? Do you have an instagram page? FROM SARAH x

Hi! Yes, I definitely felt better at 8 months. Each month got significantly better. 1 through 6 was a drag but 6 through 12 (almsot 13 now) was a marked increase each month. I was just diagnosed with thyroid cancer last month so I'm having thyroid surgery tomorrow (yay) so life is wild at the moment. Yes, add me @dylandersen :)
