hello sir sir when a person who is elected independently and if he he joins a political party thereafter, he is eligible to disqualification under anti defection law of 10th schedule....so how are they ( independent candidates) eligible to form a coalition government by joining with other party. why they are not disqualified under 10th schedule then? coalition is in itself a dire necessity to form a government when a single party doesn't have enough majority. Even parties which are polar opposites like the Congress and BJP can join hands to form a government in such a situation. It does not amount to defection. Even when independent members can join a coalition as theycontinue to maintain their individual nature and do not follow any particular party's dictates.

Bcz the independent candidate will still remain an independent as he/she hasn't joined another party.. Anti defection will be applicable only when the independent member joins another party..! Hope it helped :)
