it's a 90's seattle band that kinda fits under the grunge umbrella so there's elements of punk, pop and sludge metal.

correction. they were with sub pop, so I always figured they were from Seattle but is LA based and moved to Seattle momentarily when they joined sub pop. but they are definitely a peer of the late 80's early 90's grunge bands

L7 came up in the grunge era. They're from LA & are released a couple of albums before releasing their biggest album Bricks are Heavy in '92. Toured with Nirvana a bunch of times. A really good band.

Psalm 69 is a great album! In fact I think I will go listen to it now that you brought up Ministry.

A reviewer in 1995 stated that "L7 plays slow-riffing hard rock, fast punk rock and bluesy, catchy midtempo songs: generic forms upgraded by smart lyrics and pure irreverence on stage." L7's sound has been described as "unique and unforgiving, mixing a punk rock attitude with heavy sludge metal."

L7's roots are definitely punk rock, they have the same case as Nirvana and some of their peers in the early 90s grunge

Punk. They are Punk. The were years before Nirvana, but made the entire bridge between Punk and Grunge. Which is just slow punk.

In 1990 I started getting into Prog Rock and Jazz, which I became totally and completely engrossed in. It's all I listened to from 1990 to the early 2000's. I intentionally avoided listening to bands like Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, and others like them. I avoided those bands and other bands that sounded like them like the plague. So no, prior to doing this reaction I had not heard the song.
