Forgotten Fossils

3 жыл бұрын

I Found HUGE Fossil Bones while I was fossil hunting on the Yorkshire coast. These huge Ichthyosaur verts are probably from a Temnodontosaurus species of Ichthyosaur. I was walking underneath the cliffs at Whitby on the Yorkshire coast when i found these mazing Fossil Hunting Finds. The following week I found another few Ichthyosaur Verts that fit right onto the fossil find.

Hey nice to see you posting a new video 😁👍, I've been up near whitby yesterday, I bottled out of doing a video , I will maybe try to do one next time , but I prefer to be behind a camera than in front , anyway I managed to find a few ammonites, found quite a nice peranocerus possibly fibulatum?🤔 but I won't know for sure until I prep it in my prep shed 😁🤞, I was thinking of maybe doing a short video of me prepping some stuff which would only involve me talking and being behind the camera 🤔, we will see , anyway the fossil i would like to find most of all ever , would be either a string of articulated verts or an icthy skull 😁🤞🤞🤞 , but as yet 14 yrs of fossiling/prepping and still not found either 😔 , maybe one day my luck will change 🤔🤞🤞🙏🙏🙏😁😁,

800 subscribers…now up to 13,400 since this was made! That’s some pretty nice growth. Those vertebra look like that one shifted out of position significantly before it fossilized. It could even possibly be a sign of what killed it. Very cool to find that many that go together. I’m not sure what all can be found on the Yorkshire beaches, but it would be really awesome to find a fish with scales like you found, or maybe an ichthyosaur skull with the teeth. But I have never really found a fossil before, so I would be happy with about anything recognizable. I live in Utah in the US. There are a lot of great locations for fossils, but none very near the places I have lived. Lots of cool rocks though. 🙂

Been really enjoying your vids since I discovered the channel last week, and this is my favourite one so far - I would love to own a good vertebra like the ones that you found here, but living in NW England we only really get Carboniferous stuff, mainly plants from the Coal Measures. I was lucky enough to swap some Sigillaria and Calamites fossils for a few Yorkshire coast nodules a while back and wondered if you might know if I should soak them before trying to open them? I am going to try to open them with a young relative of mine and am worried that them being really dried out will make them less likely to open cleanly. Keep making the vids, it's always nice to see a youngish person getting into rocks!
@ForgottenFossils
@ForgottenFossils 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I don't soak them. Often the seaworn ones can split easier than the ones fresh out of the cliffs.
