This is awesome, so informative. The roadmap to the back can also be seen as what Danaher called “cross body control” where if you have the bottom hook you need control of the opposite side shoulder, like when they used to use a power half a lot

Just a tip. If you have issues with your opponent trying to turtle from the underhook side take your forearm and chop on their trap. This will make it very hard for them to turn. You can even lock hands for a reverse seatbelt. You can see it in the clip at 04:57, as soon as he relinquished the elbow position above his opponent turtle.

At 2:10 you refer to the pic on the left as the "overhook side" and the right as the "underhook side" At 10:09 you refer to the 3 pictures presented from left to right as the "underhook side, overhook side, and double overhooks" You refer to the first picture from 2:10 and as the overhook side and the first pic from 10:09 as the underhook side, yet they seem to be identical positions... You state at 10:22 that from the overhook side is more opportunistic to finish but by the logic you used in explaining the pics at 10:09 shouldn't that be considered the underhook side? Then the following clip shows Giancarlo referring to the seatbelt with the overhook on bottom as the underhook side and the seatbelt with the overhook on top as the overhook side. Which side is which? Is that first timestamp I referenced just incorrect? Is my interpretation of the information incorrect? Please tell me what I am missing here lol

This was excellent. If you can slow down a little and not cut out every inefficiency in speech, it would help At 10:33 it seems like he says the “overhook side” but he is clearly on the underhook side, right?
@LIMIBJJ
@LIMIBJJ 9 ай бұрын
At 10:33 he explains why it’s harder to get under the chin from the overhook side and easier to do so from the underhook side. So yes he initially is on the overhook side but then he switches to the underhook side as he is comparing them
@waxdeli377
@waxdeli377 9 ай бұрын
I opt for the underhook side to place a hook in, by leveraging the underhook to lift their elbow up (when sitting opp up for take or re-take). But sometimes it can be a matter of what side is presented as open for insertion.
