Hi Jake, I'm curious, do you ever get hit with copyright for your videos or the database? Do you have to be careful who's content you use?

@@maxikozieanalysis videos are considered fair use, and the database links out to the videos on flo grappling and KZbin, so I don't think there's anyway they could make a copyright claim

To help with the k -guard to back side 5050 vs going to X Guard, best advice i got was look at your head position. If your head position is in between the ankle of the leg you are trying to attack with back side 5050 it will be easier to finish. If your head is on the outside the ankle its eaiser to get to x. This inturn give you increased chances in wining in those postions.
@lobsterairsoft499 Жыл бұрын
So if you’re attacking your opponent’s right leg (your left side) with k guard, does that mean if their ankle is on your left ear, to go backside 50/50?
@hurneeta Жыл бұрын
@@lobsterairsoft499 easy way to think is you are parallel inverted so you head is inbetween their legs and your right ear touches there right leg. These are generalities. It could be easy with the head on the outside if you have the flexibility.

your study has really aligned with my personal experience focusing on K control the past year. excellent work. I would say one detail that I rarely hear mentioned that makes the flatback Kguard position incredibly powerful is false gripping above the knee which activates the side core muscles between the hand and the action foot making K guard a much more sustainable static position. it prevents the backstep and makes your action leg incredibly heavy for your opponent to manipulate.

I am partial to wrestle up from k-guard, just because trying to go for 50/50 takes away the initiative to attack, while successful transition to wrestle up can open more opportunities to advance your position or pose a threat in general.

Would K guard be the meta?
@nooneatall5612 Жыл бұрын
I think the reason Gord failed to clear the scissor guard in the second clib is not because he started standing in the first one, but because of his arm position. In one clip he had his shoulder above the thigh of his opponent in the second one he had his shoulder below the thigh, this makes a huge difference, in one case you have more bodyweight on your opponent making them face away and it's hard for them to push, in the other case not so much. He teaches the move of going side to side in his first dvd from the knees, I think his arm position is what screwed him. In a sense starting standing makes it easier to get the proper arm position because your shoulder starts higher.

Man, I watch all your videos and learn a lot, but this high leg demarcation line is the first thing I’ve ever disagreed with. You’re noticing a true trend, but I think not seeing the core of the problem. True, If you throw a high leg reguard wide, over the top- that will definitely get you passed. Also true that if you throw the high leg (and this is what happens more often in those clips) with one of your hip bones coming off the ground as you turn to face them and in a balling spine position, that can also get you passed. But you’re ignoring the vital importance of the cross shoulder post high leg reguard. Whenever your opponent leads by dropping their shoulder into your elbow knee space, it’s vital to be able to frame with your foot for two reasons: one, if you were not able to bring your legs into play, you’re framing their whole body weight with your arms only-which is very tiring over time. And two, by bringing the foot to the cross shoulder post and addressing the object that’s that’s threatening your elbow knee space, you have your arms free to attack the arm saddle/Choi bar which is one of the only ways to END the cycle of abuse of a larger opponent continuously dropping their shoulder on you. Nick Salles vs Diego Saravia comes to mind as an example. Go watch Nick brilliantly stop Diego from being able to ever drop his shoulder by brining his foot across the demarcation line of the head. He artfully places the end of his foot on a piece of bone. Educated and dexterous. It’s not crossing the head that gets you passed. It’s super necessary. It’s people doing it poorly that’s making it look bad lol. Ight. Sorry that was long as fuck. I’m passionate. Ima go finish this video now and then go watch the last one where you spoke about this more in depth.

If you want to full answers to all the questions around Guardretention and Options from there, just watch Lachlan Giles and Ariel Tabaks Instructionals (Guardretention, K-Guard, X-Guard, 50/50, De la Riva, Backtakes etc.) The knowledge is out there and far better explained then in a Gordon/Danaher overcomplicated manner. Maybe those guys don't have the medals to show, maybe the don't use Steriods, maybe they are less athletic and maybe they have better mechanics then a 230 pound Gorilla. Give it a try and you won't need any half backed answers to questions already been answered. Keep your mind open and remember what made JiuJitsu great in the first place: best use of biomechanics win and not dogmatic thinking. Rock'n'Roll
