It is SO NICE to hear the written harmony at the end instead of both going up!!!

Absolutely! Puccini wrote it to represent love and moonlight, not two singers trying to scream a high-C. I love it as sung here, the way Puccini wrote it.

Thank you for pointing that out! Puccini knew what he was doing. Don't change Puccini's notes! This is not bel canto!

I was there last night when Rodolfo had a problem with his voice and the real-life husband of Ekaterina Siurina took over from the wings while Atalla Ayan acted and mouthed the words from on stage. It added a particular drama and every one of us the audience willed it to be a triumph - and it was! A magnificent performance with exceptional plaudits all around to the six (seven) voices for thier professionalism and dedication to their task. A wonderful performance! But I need to record my praise of the sets, lighting and set movement; Stewart Laing, Bob and Tamar Manoukiamn but also Sarah Fahie and Danielle Urbas. I thought the use of mobile set items was completely magical and enhaced the story perfectly. I particularly enjoyes thge movement of the hut in Act Three which seemed to reflect the pan shot in cinematography. Perfect, superb and brilliant. I congratulate you all.

This was the new ROH production. The singing was brilliant but I preferred the earlier sets. I did not like Michael Fabiano's long hair. I have been since and seen this production a further two or three times with different singers - fortunately, Rudolfo did not have long hair!!
@martinchuzzlewit24527 жыл бұрын
The music is so gorgeous, the singing is so wonderful but the direction sucks. Rudolfo is staring at Mimi in the moonlight, he notices how beautiful she is... this production misses EVERYTHING.

No, no es extraordinario. La voz del tenor carece de brillo en los agudos. Evita también el "ultimo ut" que la soprano está sola para hacer. La referencia permanece en 1960 creo, en San Francisco, con Luciano Pavarotti y Mirella Freni.

on the high dramatic part her vibrato is so bad that although she's singing on tune you hear mainly a tone that is 2 and a half tones higher which clashes horribly. This is why people hate opera these days.
