@@Jaq365 I never knew this. I remember the Commander was popular for speed record attempts (Bonneville, SCTA, etc.) in the 1950’s but I don’t recall them being used in road racing in the US.

Actually those Studebakers are Commanders and the median age is 70 years old. There are usually quite a few in competition at The Bonneville Salt Flats mainly due to their aerodynamic body shape. They were years ahead of the other manufacturers back in 1954!

Can't believe I watched a Studebaker in a 2023 race. I remember when the country had them as patrol cars back in 1955. Wonder what these had for engines?

It was very similar to a Chevy 283.

BWS ..............these are in a class probably with highly modified SBCs and LS Chevy power and the reason for the Studbaker was aerodynamics ..........good combo , there were classes with period looking cars

Liked the 01 studebaker...dem good ole boys! They do sound amazing, I also liked the ( pure guess) a model B ? At least its brakes should get plenty of cooling airflow 😂. 😊

I believe the Studes are pretty good aerodynamically. Dunno how many times they have won outright, but one year for sure in a machine run by a rock group from Finland - The Leningrad Cowboys won this event. Pretty cool I thought. Only thing that would impress me more would be if I won it myself.

The original Carrera Panamericana was started in the early 50s, and ran thru 55 when most open road racing stopped after 80 spectators and a driver were killed, at LeMans. This was started as a vintage event, 20(?) Years ago. The winners in the 50s were usually American stock cars like Lincoln, Oldsmobile, Cadillac, Oldsmobile, and Studebaker, until about '53, when Ferrari started to build cars specifically for this race. The Question you should be asking is: WTF ARE ALL THE LATE MODEL PORCHES DOING HERE?

....y pensar que tuvimos un Studebaker 😢 y no lo quiraron por falta de pago . Nos costo 5,000 pesos . Lo peor del caso es que al irr a Monterrey , viviamos en San Luis Potosi, l9 vi a orilla de carretera en un Yonke despues de 15 años y no poder comprarlo , vaya trauma . Lo que valdria esa joya ahora , ni modo , solo buenos recuerdos quedan . Saludos desde Dallas Texas y gracias mil por compartir . Ojala tengas un video de la parada para verlos con mejor angulo , saludos y felicidades, buen trabajo .

Pre Hawk , all of them. Hawks have worse aerodynamics, with upright grilles and fins.

Just like how Targa Tasmania used to be, so many Porsche 911s, oh and of course plenty of yank cast iron. Asides the few Beemers (old and new), and a Beetles, a Reggie, and a Z car, it doesn’t seem like there were any other cars being used, ie old Alfas, Ferraris etc ???

That was kinda cool to see! Don't see too many Studebakers anymore, seems they're all racing :P And even some old classic Opels! Not too often I see Porsche 914 racing either! And it's nice to see some Beetles racing on roads, too used to seeing them all be used in Rallycross.

Es el tramo de San José del Tanque, la primera curva es a 2.5 km de la comunidad rumbo a leon y la 2da curva es a 7.5 km.

Me parece muy peligroso que está carrera se lleve a cabo, de está manera cruzan poblaciones a alta velocidad, en donde hay entronques muy peligrosos, y dónde han sucedido ya tragedias por ejemplo carretera Aguascalientes - ojuelos, los autos de esas poblaciones, así como motos, etc se cruzan sin precaución!!! Chequen el entronque a Calvillito rumbo a ojuelos Jalisco!!!

En esa zona que comentas no era etapa de velocidad, era de traslado y circulan como cualquier vehículo. En las etapas de velocidad se cierran las carreteras a la circulación.

Estás completamente equivocado, ya que a mí me rebasaron, e iba yo a unos 110 aprox. y te comento que lo hicieron a muy alta velocidad, de hecho hasta grabé el vídeo donde un Ford futura rebasó con falta de precaución!! Lo viví yo mismo!!!
