4th and 18, go for it. A chance of converting at that point was better than worrying about field position. The defense had given up like 5 scoring drives in a row. There was no reason to think that wouldn’t happen again.

John Harbaugh basically took a crap on our team going for it on 4th down on their own 16 down 10 points . That move gave them a super boost of confidence and was the difference in the game.

Haskins, Reagor, and Hurst all have people behind them that should be given an opportunity. Fox and Dupree are above average in pass downs, but are getting smashed in the run game. Pipkins has too many catastrophic breakdowns. Good on most plays, then misses a stunt on a critical play.

I'm sure everyone knows QJ is not that guy. On crucial 3rd downs we need to scheme for Ladd. Not just call a play. But scheme a play that maximizes the possibility of an open Ladd. We hung in there till the 4th quarter. It was within a FG until the 4th. At this point, I think Herbert just needs to keep throwing at QJ to get him out. His constant drops will force the coaches hand. They picked up one flag. I don't think it would go our way with that gamble.

For the 4th and 18, I think that moment was the moment of, we don't have the horses to do this. It was a reality check with how bad QJ and the receivers were playing and that they knew they would blitz and stunt and most likely blow up the interior and get a sack. That is my opinion, but I didn't feel like anyone could make that catch and get down the field that fast other than Ladd, and I just don't think he wanted his team to be boat raced at the end and lose all their momentum this year. John went 4th and one on a quick count where we weren't set. And 4th and 18 with a crap WR room? Not comparable. I really really really don't think we are talking about a 7 point loss, but I think we are down by 21 and feel broken.

​@@guiltyascharged7752 I think its a big difference if you keep it close or get boat raced. I think it matters a lot to the moral of the team going forward. I think he was protecting his guys. Putting them in that position and failing would have really put the D on their heels and then things could have gotten out of hand. Sometimes you stop the bleeding to fight another day.

There might have been improvement for QJ, but we also need to recognize he has serious limitations, in particular he can’t fight through the defender on contested catch situations and he also just can’t be trusted in clutch situations to catch ANYthing. We need to stop playing him just to keep his confidence up for future seasons and see what Chark can do THIS season. With a guy like Ladd on the roster for cheap we can afford to pay Tee Higgins and get that one-two punch of an elite separator and elite 50/50 ball guy.

@ except I don’t care about his confidence problem, i think the team should play Chark now, but i think they care more about the long term QJ project than with winning now. But after yesterday I’m ready to move on. Sometimes you buy a car and just need to fix the carburetor, slap on a coat of paint. Sometimes you keep fixing the engine and the engine keeps breaking. That’s either a problem with the mechanic or the car is just a lemon.

Quinton Johnson is the bust we thought he was. Other than Ladd (who never gets enough targets) the Chargers have ZERO, ZILCH, NADA, absolutely NOTHING at WR. Think hard on this… Will fuc*ing Dissly has outplayed every receiver on the team except Ladd.

Tons of Galaxy Brain comments here from people tryin to cut the guy with 6TD while the next best WR has 4 TD followed by 3 players with 1 TD. Kimani Vidal has as many TD's as the 3rd best WR...that is with only playing 9 games vs other WR's on the bolts with 11 or 10 under their belt. Edit: QJ is tied for 5th in NFL for TD's, let's cut his ass...AM I RIGHT?

I has predicted a L, and it went how I thought, because I didn't see our D keeping Lamar and Henry in check. That was gonna be a difficult ask. Degree of difficulty was too high with Cam Hart and Perryman out. But catching a simple ball without being contested, really has a low enough degree of difficulty to expect them to get it done. That's why the disappointment with Q. He just doesn't have innate skills, whether physical or mental or whatever. Sure he may have improved, but when he has to deliver, he can't meet the requirements. Palmer has played with Justin for 4 years. They should have chemistry, Palmer should have risen to be the goto guy but is absolutely a ghost for the most part. If we keep Q and Palmer, we won't win deep playoffs. Justin's SB window is closing fast. Khalil Mack, Joey Bosa, are at the end or close to end of their careers. Minter might be gone. A great D season being wasted. JK might not be as good. Now what?
