Surprisingly good quality on this beautiful old film - with gowns by the great Jeanne Margaine-Lacroix! Wonderful to see her designs in motion - thank you!

I just watched “La Cigarette” on TCM and it’s really a good silent film about post WW1 France and male female relationships back then. You have to enable your TV close captioning if you can’t read French though. I despise 90% of modern (2008-2020) films.

I started watching on TCM, but my CC doesn't work (or I don't know how to work it)...so I watched it here with CC, instead! Thanks for posting.

******Spoilers******* Stop reading if you haven’t seen this film. I was so jealous of the husband that he had an ingenious way of euthanizing himself if his wife was indeed chuck holding him with Maurice. Some cyanide on an anonymous cigarette is a great way to self euthanize in my humble opinion. I was pulling so hard for the young beautiful wife to be faithful and not having the affair. I’m happy that the husband wasn’t going to hurt his wife physically if she was guilty of adultery. He loved his wife so much he would have let her go on and live with her supposed “lover”. It is a great movie thank y’all for the feedback.
