La cripta de la Colonia Güell -Antoni Gaudí-

The Church of Colònia Güell is Gaudí’s unfinished masterpiece where he experimented with original architectural techniques before creating the Sagrada Familia.
It was built as a place of worship for the people on a hillside in a manufacturing suburb in Santa Coloma de Cervelló, near Barcelona.
The primary importance of the church of the Colonia Güell in so far as Gaudi goes is that this is where Gaudi brought all of his architectural innovations together for the first time.
As Gaudi said, had the church been finished it would have been a “monumental model of the Sagrada Familia”
The crypt was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005.

La cripta de la Colonia Güell es una obra de Antoni Gaudí, construida entre 1898 y 1914 por encargo del empresario Eusebi Güell como edificio religioso para sus trabajadores de la Colonia Güell, situada en Santa Coloma de Cervelló, junto a su fábrica textil. Este municipio se encuentra a 20 kilómetros de Barcelona.
La importancia de la iglesia de la Colonia Güell en la obra de Gaudí se debe a que es la primera vez que utiliza de forma unitaria sus innovaciones arquitectónicas. Tal como dijo el propio Gaudí, si se hubiese finalizado hubiera sido «una maqueta monumental de la Sagrada Família». El laboratorio de Gaudí, donde experimentó las innovaciones que más tarde aplicaría en la Sagrada Familia.
La cripta Gaudí fue declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO en el 2005.
