The power in your testimony is the common sense, practical and loving way that you address our humanness. Rather than say "This is what a true Christian must do" you provide insight and instruction that speaks to Christians and non-Christians alike -- all the while demonstrating how your faith informs and supports you life in this world.

The keys🤣 Person 1: Apologize for having the keys and not doing due diligence in a timely way, return the keys, pay for the Uber. Person 2: Apologize for not keeping track of the keys, accept them back, refuse the money but suggest a donation to aid those without adequate food, clothes or faith, in the immediate community if possible... Apologize

If we taxed the wealthiest the same way we did back when America was Great, in the 50s, we'd have more money to deal with things like this

Is the conflict between Esau and Mike genuine?

Esau- you’re are not owed “credit” for finding the keys. I think an appropriate comment would have been “I honestly reached into my coat pockets and didn’t find your keys. Unfortunately, I did discover them later on once I was already at home. I’m sorry I missed them during my pocket check. I’m sorry you had to take an Uber. I will be more careful as I grab keys on my way out. I love you brother.”

Can you explain more about why/how victims of natural disasters should continue to think that God is good? This sounds like an abusive dynamic, much like what happened to Job and his family.

Some of the churches I've attended taught God to be a divine butler, serving up only good things. Thus, when bad happened they were unprepared. In this life the rain falls on the just and the unjust; so having a good understanding of who God is helps to prepare us for the rain. My two cent summation. Venmo upon request!

People have asked that fair question a lot. And for a very long time. Since scripture exegetes scripture, you have to go to scripture. Psalm 34:8 specifically states that “God is good”. Later in the NT, 2 Timothy 3:16, it states that ALL scripture is inspired (or breathed out) by God. As Psalm 34:8 is inspired, neither it nor 2 Timothy 3 contradict each other. Save for John, all of the apostles died significantly bad deaths, so bad temporal endings in this fallen world have been happening since Genesis 3. And those men were handpicked by Christ himself.

@patrickc3419 do you know the saying "show, don't tell"? If you directly say that a character in a story is "good" but you depict them doing bad things, a careful reader might come to the conclusion that that character is not, in fact, good. Put another way: if god took my children on a pointless bet with the devil, it would take a lot more than an abusive lecture and some unrelated psalms for me to imagine that that god is good in any way.

@@aosidh I know of “show and tell” but not “show don’t tell”. Sir, the fact that horrific things such as this wildfire don’t happen on a daily basis, and that individuals such as St-lin & Mans-n are the exception not the rule show the abundance of God’s general (sometimes called restraining) grace, which is not the same as his saving grace. We deserve a lot worse than wildfires.

An hour and a half Uber trip was a big deal, even tho the cause was an innocent, inadvertent mistake. Esau, we love you, but maybe that wasn't the best time to make a joke out of it....and maybe your relationship is fine with that kind of back or forth. Just sayin'...I think a lot of people would consider it a strain....
