AFAR, MLS doesn't use "VAR lines" - those are done using the Hawkeye system. MLS's VAR philosophy has always been that offside decisions had to be clearly wrong, not just that a player forgot to cut their toenail that day.

@@koppzerrr9235 Not sure if that's the reason, but MLS protocol is that the referee must do an on-field review for all reviews. if nothing else, it sells both the ultimate call and the referee's authority - he's verifying, not getting overruled.

Yes. It was a tight move, but it really seemed offside. As long as the organizers do not set up VAR with the automatic offside line like it has in Europe, the referees will continue to allow this type of move, they only call offside when it is very clear, in a tight play where there is not much certainty, they usually let it go.

This was an exiciting game! I hadn't seen either of these two teams play in quite awhile although I remember them as being quality teams. The Timbers were kinda lagging compared to many years ago with the exception of a couple players but the Galaxy was as strong as ever and played an excellent game. This is the kinda game I like to watch because it's fast action, both teams are moving fast and the individual players must showcase their skills & physical ability.

Cards can be given out even outside of playing time. It often happens that players get a yellow for immediately starting to argue with the ref after the final whistle, or even a red if they take part in a post-match fight or something

The Ref did a good job at calling the game when he did. He actually went over the 8 added minutes and the previous corner was the last opportunity of the game. Miller didn’t realize how much time was left so that’s why he let it run out

It takes time for a manager to build a team. Early on Portland were very poor. Evander was unmotivated. The right side attack was non existent. Little by little they are getting better. They are more balanced, they are threatening in attack and pretty solid in defense. The team is coming along better than I had hoped early in the season.

@@TiberiusThunder God, no. MLS still adheres to the philosophy of "clear and obvious error". Fans in Europe still argue about line placement and thickness. And having semi-automated offside systems rule out goals based on 1 or 2 cm is, in my mind, contrary to the spirit of the game.
