The La Goulette cruise port in Tunisia is the gateway to many great destinations, such as the ancient ruins of Carthage, or the country's capital- Tunis.
However, an incredible option either as a stand alone destination, or in combination with those already mentioned, is Sidi Bou Said.
This historic hilltop town overlooking the Mediterranean looks right out of the Greek Isles, rather than Northern Africa.
Filled with artistic shops, cafes and galleries, to go with beautiful views, Sidi Bou Said is definitely worth a visit from La Goulette.
In this video, we show you 4 different ways of getting there, including a public transport route that costs the equivalent of 15 U.S. cents!

Done it so many times , lived in la goulete , le kram , sidi bou said and la marsa , taxis are everywhere and cheap but the tram is by far the cheapest and run every 15 mins , very basic and can be packed at weekends but the tram lines go straight into the centre of tunis , so once you know your way around it don't cost much at all and everywhere is quite safe too

Hey Samantha! It may be possible. I have just gone to the train station in the past, and during the day there has normally been a train every 15 minutes or so. They can be quite crowded at times, so just be mindful of your belongings!

Does the tram also go to Carthage?

Hi Mary! Yes, the two closest stops would be Carthage Hannibal, and Carthage Presidence. I would say the first stop is slight closer. Hope that helps!
