i was in this video… I was sitting towards the bottom next to that exit sign and the earthquake was very very scary. It felt like i was sitting in a little box and someone bigger than me was shaking the box for fun.

No he isn't. That is exactly what you should do when there is an earthquake in a theatre. You stay seated and get in the brace position (the position you should get in if you're in a plane that is about to crash). Once the earthquake is over you stay in your seat until the Stage Manager or Theatre Director says to do otherwise.

I was there I was 5 years old when it happened. It was traumatizing for me a little kid. For my sister to be right on the stage I was scared. Now I can’t go through that song without being scared.

I think one way you can tell is if it is an instant jolt, then you may be close to the epicenter... and if it is far away, the shaking starts slowly and then builds up.. correct me if im wrong lol.. At least thats how it is down here in San diego!

Are you kidding?? You were working in La Habra, but in what STATE? I've lived twice on an epicenter (La Habra 2014 and Whittier 1987), and as I was being tossed around like I was in a blender on March 28th, I kept praying I was ON the epicenter because if I wasn't, then others were probably being killed. I just spent thousands of dollars on my foundation because of this "lil' tremor." AND, I DO enjoy a good earthquake! It was no surprise to me and my family it was centered in La Habra.

I’m not much of an expert on earthquakes, but I don’t think that people should be sitting in a chair during an earthquake. Instead, they should get down on the floor and hide under the chairs so that nothing painful falls on their head. Best thing to do during an earthquake...get low and protect your head with your hands so that you don’t get hurt.

Yes. Panic and stampedes can kill people. Most buildings in Calfornia are built to withstand quakes, but when panic sets in, people can get trampled.

Probably; you can’t stay seated during an earthquake. The thing is that people are supposed to get under the seats to keep themselves (and their heads) from getting hurt, not staying seated, especially in an auditorium. Plus, it’s not even possible to stay seated during an earthquake...I don’t think.

In that situation if everyone has jumped up and rushed for the exit in adrenaline fuelled panic, you’ve got a crush and people will die. Staying seated or taking cover where you are will be better for all concerned.

This earthquake was only 3 miles deep, shallow quakes produce high ground acceleration, an identical quake caused a lot of damage in Santa Barbara in 1978, that quake even derailed a train, magnitude and intensity didn’t really hold the same correlation, an identical quake like this also hit Lorca in Spain on May 11th 2011 which was captured on many cameras!
