After careful examination of both candidates, I decided I’ll vote for Caruso. Why? He has a proven track record of organizing people and projects to great success. Some of those projects are the best LA has to offer. Him spending over 40 million of his own money on ads tells me he really wants the job. His focus on homelessness, his solution to solve by hitting the crisis as an emergency. Bass offers no solution other than saying we need long term solutions. Of course we do. But we need emergency solutions right now, enough talk. Time for action. He has the conviction and experience to get it done. Additionally, Bass on record saying people in LA are safe on the streets?! That is a clueless hard pass for me major red flag. If you want more of the same, vote Bass. If you want LA cleaned up, vote Caruso.

I agree with the long-term approach. Mental health services are important, but the priority should be to get people in long-term housing. Much of the stress and the strain on the minds of homeless people is directly caused *by* homelessness. Short term housing isn't particularly good. Like Karen said, most will end up right back on the streets. What we, San Francisco, California, and the nation as a whole *NEED* to do is de-comodify housing. Shelter is an basic need, and investment/reality firms have been buying up just-evicted-homes since '08. The problem is compounded by the ludicrous single family home zoning issue. Nationalized housing would fix this. It is estimated that ending homelessness in the US(building homes, programs to populate said homes) would costs 2 billion. *Total.* That is quite literally less than *1/300th* of our military budget. Let that sink in.

Being independent I haven't chosen either candidate, but I noticed the words coming from each of them, always come down to the expression , we have to do this, we have to do that. Being an owner of my own business for most of my life, I understood that all this decisions come from the leader at the top, let me emphasize leader. The word we, doesn't denote a leader, it denotes a follower , in every case. I never saw either of them seem to take responsibility for anything they claim they want to do, meaning I will do this to fix homelessness, I will do this to fix crime, it's always we have to do something about that, the way I see it the "We"is everybody except them. In any event I'm looking for a leader, just like I was in my business, so I just feel like I'm throwing my vote away! In any event I don't go for marshmallow politics, or tribalism they're both useless.

They need to reintroduce Proposition 36. This forced drug addicts into court mandated drug programs...most of them were grateful for the help they received. Sometimes you have to do for others what they can't do for themselves. They'll appreciate you later...if you care. We hotra get these drug addicts out of tents ( where they are consuming drugs all day lon. Most of them are young too. They should be working or in school
