Thank you so much for all this information you're putting out there. It has been such a big help for me. You have nailed the problems I have struggled with for years. I so wish I had discovered your videos years ago. What I'm getting from you is contrary to what I've gotten from choir directors and a couple vocal instructors: dropping the jaw, a vertical oval as opposed to the horizontal smile. Others have stressed breathing and breath support but never really explained it like you do. The last instructor I worked with had me doing a very quiet 'yodel' to help train my voice to flip. Months of that never really did anything for me. One of my biggest problems was not singing into the true mask so I was using so much more breath than I should have had to to produce the sound and I was unable to sing soft. I could practice for hours and feel my voice freeing up more and more but then the next day my voice would be hoarse and I couldn't sing. Judging by what you said in one or more of your videos I had too much air passing over my vocal chords. I still struggle with singing soft but this video seems to be a key to unlocking that door. I'm working on it. I am so grateful to you! Thank again!

Still having a wonderful time at 71. Your videos are so helpful. Only recently have I had the feeling of being able to do a decent messa di voce. I found that I had been slightly grabbing with the jaw. But this video, my God! I didn’t realise how vital a low breath is for pianissimo singing. It all works! Thank you!

@@Tenoretrimble Dear Mr. Trimble, my question is on your "mouth opening" video. Would b appropriate to ask here? But if i have your permission, let me go ahead. I have enjoyed and understood how to have smiley face while singing the vowels. Yet since my mother tongue is not English(i am ethiopian), i have also a sound which we use a lot and it is 'e' as in the the last sound in ur name 'trimble'. it is kind of sonorous, nasal sound which comes out if our tongue when we articulate that and its difficult to sing with abdomen in that sound with smiley face. So any crack? Hope you understand my question.

@@TheMerahi You mean E as in ee? Like the word east? Or E as in "eh". Like the word trend? Either way, try to make those vowels close related to the vowel Ah, because ee and eh are very nasal sounds especially if over pronounced. You need to modify them a bit so they don't get in the way of the your vocal tone (timbre). Just a very tiny bit though, make sure you are always perfectly understood.

@@TheMerahi No problem. And I still don't get it exactly. The e is silent when you pronunce the name trimble. Can you give other examples? You must be referring to the vowel EH, as in "heck, "let". You can still apply the principle I told you about. Make your vowels closed related to each other, and the vowel isn't gonna be too nasal and narrow. Hope this helps
