Just to answer your question about the phones Brad because I work for my local PD. Those are law enforcement phones called gamewells. All of their lines were hooked back up to the police department. They were for police use only. Back in the 40's, that's what detectives used in the field to make calls to the PD and get information they needed.
@NinjaGrimm6668 жыл бұрын
yeah, then the criminal scum began their rise and started destroying nice things like that. and thanks for your service.

That wasn't his question, his question was why are there so many goddamn phones everywhere?!
@Blackflame244 жыл бұрын
Arctic Phoenix my answer literally tells you WHY there are so many. Do you not read? They were spread all throughout the city so officers would always have quick access to a phone to get or pass along information

Brad. In the 40s there were no portable police radios, at least in the UK. Instead they had 'Blue-Boys'; blue telephones on a pillar or on prominent buildings on the 'beats'. The station could call the blue-boys and they would flash, so the officer pounding that beat knew there was a message for him. The officers could also call the station using the blue-boy phone. Probably there would be up to four of these on each beat area. In the game, when you're on foot, and you need to pursue a car, you can commandeer any vehicle you wish. That's why vehicles stop and the passengers get out, so you can use their car! The game isn't British of course, but one of the reasons I like this game, is that Police Forces are pretty similar on either side of the pond! Taking me back to the sixties, when police methods hadn't progressed much since the forties. It wasn't until 1966 that the beat officers had 'personal radio'! I hope that helps you. Oh, and could we hear a bit more of the music? Lol!

Brad, Don't know if anyone ever answered you but the blue phones, that you find everywhere are called Police boxes, they were used for police that had to go on patrol and they had to use them to check in to HQ, Washington D.C. Still has them but not in working order. The red ones that you see attached to them every once in awhile is a Fire box, used for the fire department to report fires, the boxes also relaid the location to the police or fire box that was in use.

My dad (who is a retired NYPD Homicide Detective) told me that the blue phone boxes used for the police were transportable and set up on telephone poles and connected to the telephone lines for quick on-the-go usage. They would set up the phones near crime scenes. Some were randomly put up around the city.

Hey Brad, love your stuff; you do great work! I do have something for you if you don't mind a little light phonetic correction. He mentions DNA and fingerprints a lot, but if this takes places on the early 90's, that kind of information gathering wasn't really readily available, used, or reliable until the late 90's. Fingerprinting and DNA testing only really started being a source of evidence gathering around the 1980's. Shockingly, it's a relatively new technique.

Yes, they're called a gamewell police call/phone box. It was before the cops carried radios, they could usually found alone or as a pair police/fire alarm pull box. Only the police had the key for the phone, anyone could and still can operate the fire box. Great game by the way.

alot of this stuff did relate to the 1940's like the payphones and the fact that people walked alot more back then, the fact that you had to get ahold of an operator to make a call was very true, the make of the cars look like they are from the 1940's, i would say that most of the stuff they show on here is true

Brad u should do the side missions!! They give u points to buy weapons and stuff!! Furthermore u gain experience points to level up ur character and so u have more intuitions cause when u approach the cases that are closely to the end of the game it would be harder for u to solve some of them!!
