Anyone felt any sympathy for Hogeboom? The guy was so traumatized by what he did at Okinawa, burning the civilians alive by Phelps' orders, it truly felt like he was mentally "killed" by the horror he committed. And if that's enough pain for him to suffer through, his own psychiatrist uses him to burn down the bogus properties just so he and his other co-conspirators can cash in on the urban fund. I really enjoyed the backstory of some of the important characters during their service in the Pacific Theater. Shows how much some try to abandon the wounds they've sustained in the past while others were already long gone because their wounds cut deeper than the skin.

I'm assuming that Peterson may have abandoned his crusade against corruption but I'm wondering how he got Roy, William and Fletcher to bargain their way out possibly blackmailing them to exonerate Cole Phelps and securing Jack Kelso in exchange for his position as District Attorney replacing the corrupt Donald Sandler if not compliant he'd expose their notorious corruption. It just got abandoned ... really upsetting. This game was a very unique gem that carved an entire genre for itself on the PS3 (and that is an impressive feat). It deserved better than this. Was going to upvote until the whole turning point crap (lol). If there's one thing about Roy, it is his consistency in bullshit, even if it does always contain a speck of genuine compassionate emotion that only sows itself once in the entire game. Roy is what he is, for better or for worse, and he will never change. He is already all he will ever be. Anything "different" that changes his character can only possibly be what is hidden within him, that he shares with no-one.

I think Roy did genuinely respect Phelps. He DID go out of his way to get him as a partner, and during the Vice case when the British boxer makes a run for it, Roy goes against his normally selfish nature by letting Phelps protect the man (even if under vocal protest). Is Roy a good guy for that? No, but I can appreciate that he had genuine respect for Cole. I *would* say he laid it on a little thick, especially given how poorly they get along in the end (with good reason)--and that you can fake. He absolutely did *not* have a turning point. However, I feel that no one had to twist his arm to be there. I do feel this scene makes him a more complicated person in subtle ways, and I like it for that.

Nazrat84 LA Noire is 97% amazing and timeless like a classic movie. But that ending was a damn joke i get they wanted to be edgy and give it a Chinatown type ending but my god it didn't fit and made zero sense they could of killed off ANYONE Elsa, Jack and i would of been fine. Coles "death" ruins the replayability and longevity of the story imo. Poorly done. And thats a shame bcuz the game is 97% a masterpiece. Its like a Mona Lisa that has a huge white smudge of paint taking up 3% of the painting lol
@federicomachado8116 жыл бұрын
Rob Nickerson lol no. Cole giving his life to save others was the only sensitive way of ending his character arc tbh.
@lepetitenellie6 жыл бұрын
Rob Nickerson Totally agree. At least a tiny bit of a moment from him wanting to redeem himself whether it was through a flashback or a dialogue exchange would have made his death give that stamp of “yes that was a good death”. Even up to one of his last lines was about needing the guy alive to make a case. So perhaps a line or two by Elsa telling him directly what a good man he was to her or his ex-wife or his daughters say something about him being a hero, just anything, to flesh out his desire to “make right” his past would have been enough to round out the main storyline.

Looks like Cole dieing in the last mission was a surprise to many of you ( I won't gonna lie the first time i finished the game I was too) But Completing it for the second time i was convinced that it was best that Cole died a "hero's death" rather living with the regrets that he made through out his life especially with the number of bad calls/decisions he took during the war....And specially when he ordered his subordinate ira to burn the civilians to death which were in caves and hospitals as it's said in the flashback and if you may notice when the wave of water is about to hit Cole he willingly hesitates a bit and that only means he wants to die a hero's death rather live with his regrets and may I say that the bravery award was also his biggest regret although he did not ask for it but he knew he didn't deserve that !! And that's my piece of mind and you have the right to agree or disagree !!

Biggs spent most of his career pushing people away and refused to have a partner because of his trauma during war. He closed himself emotionally from others as to not attach himself emotionally and suffer when they die. Even then, he was forced to work alongside Phelps which was the only detective he seemed to trust and opened up to him about his experiences during WWI. He even went as far as putting his career and life in danger to help Phelps solve cases and save Elsa. And at the end Phelps dies horribly in front of Biggs, as he's unable to help. Poor guy could never catch a break.

Many people are questioning why Cole didnt Jump, its because the game’s plot starts when the Hospital Burns down. Everything in this game from Cole’s perspective is because of that. The game’s plot starts When it ends. The Reason why Cole ever joined the LAPD because he wanted redemption, He had too much guilt on what happened on Sugar Loaf Hill and in the Hospital. And his time as an LAPD detective was over. The corruption got him there was no saving him. And when the time came. He knew that he could exit life. He saved Kelso which gave the help to his Guilt, But what next? He didnt have anything, he could have gone to Elsa but that would only produce more headlines for his Wife to see. And lastly. His career was too hated by the public. He made mistakes but he freed the main mistake from his mind (Sugar Loaf Hill). And that started L.A. Noire. *If he jumped there was nothing left for him to do*

If this game gets a sequel, (I doubt it though) I think that it should be set during the 60's. Think about it. A new war, with an enemy you can't even see nor shoot, and a war with no clear goal. Elsa could've had a child with Cole, and that child could be his predecessor, with him tying the loose ends of his father.

This game has a irritatingly abrupt ending. The scam is stopped but a lot of people got away with it. I also don't like how it takes until the end to finally show the most important flashback. It could have helped show why Cole is the way he is. Shoehorning it in so late was a missed opportunity. I also didn't like how out of the blue Cole commits adultery. That demote him to Arson. Which conveniently is during the whole scam. Othet than this is a great story for a great game. I wish however that you could do activities such as bowling. Anything other than nust cases and things to collect.
