St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra and Scanorama present an exclusive project - a music and film experience watching the silent French director C. Th. Dreyer’s film “The Passion of Joan of Arc” and listening to live music by Broniaus Kutavičius that was specially created for this film.
The history of the film itself is fascinating for many reasons. It was banned as soon as it was released, and its copies were destroyed. But thanks to a miracle, the only copy was found in the Oslo psychiatric hospital… Composer Bronius Kutavičius created a lot of great music for the films of the Lithuanian Film Studio in 2008. gladly accepted this challenge, but it took almost 2 years to finally and accurately synchronize the flow of video and music and convey the delicate feelings of the film’s heroes.
A silent movie about the legendary Joan of Arc, live music by Broniaus Kutavičius, and the extraordinary atmosphere of St. Catherine’s Church will immerse you in an unforgettable music and cinema experience!
The concert is partially financed by the Lithuanian Council For Culture.
