I free dove in la paz with sea lions. I'm a pretty fair hand in the water, pretty confident, and can breath hold for around 3 minutes or so - do alot of spear fishing here in Hawaii. The kinematics of a sealion in its element are mindblowing, and they react so curiously when you (poorly) try and match thier loops and rolls in the water. I had one try to "teach" me how to do it right. He'd face me and roll, and then hover there and wait. I'd roll. He'd loop, I'd loop If I did it well, he'd blow bubbles and grin (or appeared to) if I did it too slow or sloppy for his taste - he'd butt me in the gut with his nose, or yank on my fins with his teeth. and do it again, for me to repeat. Amazing animals.

Sea lions do not belong in zoos. Zoos are prisons for animals. Seal lions belong in their natural habitats. THanks for this video. I will share your video on social media. Mexico is beautiful!

Hello great video! I am planning to go to sjd this may and I will also visit la paz just to swim with these beautiful creatures and I was wondering with which tour did you dive with the sea lions. I am also a certified diver so I would appreciate your feedback. Thanks a lot!

Cool,what other dive site do you recommend in La paz?
@LukasWalter5 жыл бұрын
I have not much else diving in La Paz. I have been to a few spots but they didn't impress me that much. The most famous spot is probably El Bajo. Unfortunately I have not been there. It is quite far and hit and miss. If you hit it can be amazing with schooling hammerheads.

does one need to hire a company to go to this tour? if so, does the price include vids andn pictures. and how deep is the water? (i'm not a good swimmer, can we still do it or not recommended). is water calm or unpredictable?
@LukasWalter5 жыл бұрын
Hi Sandy, you have to go with an operator because it’s a small island off the coast. If water isn‘t calm they usually don’t even go there. I went with a scuba diving operator and did the pictures and videos all by myself. They water isn‘t very deep next to the island but deep enough that you can’t stand anymore. There are operators that offer snorkeling tours and I think they usually wear am safety vest that keeps you afloat. I hope that helps.

Yes they do. When you look at the dive sites one is los islotes. This is were the sea lion colony is. But if you book better check with them first because they don’t go there on every day trip.

There are rules to follow in this tour and the basics ones are to not get that close to the principal rock!, to not touch them and to never I say NEVER put your hand inside their mouth thats so dangerous, Sea lions have bacterias that can cause you to lose a limb, and due to not following the rules and forgetting sea lions are wild animals just caused what happened in La Paz lately and its tons of more rule that dont allow you to enjoy the experience as it was in the past. Please if youre going to share a video, do it by following the rules, if not youre just causing more people to follow the same behaviour as yours
