the reason it takes so long is they need to build a case and close any possible loopholes the defendant might use to get off fully or a lesser charge. they don't want to risk the trial being thrown out for various reasons when a case is rushed.

I’m not saying you’re wrong but I feel like part of the anger is because there have been plenty cases where they take there time “to close loop holes and build cases” and then the cop gets acquitted and only gets a paid suspension. So people don’t even see his arrest as progress, because they seen this all play out before.

I remember seeing something about how the "girlfriend" of Trayvon Martin was the star witness that turned out to be a trainwreck and fucked the case. I don't know a lot about it, but it's interesting to see that the lawyer for Trayvon is now the lawyer for George.
