Once the wound has healed, you apply the gel to the scar, once or twice a day. This prevents, for example, the scar from becoming hypertrophic. It helps to fade it. @@niamhbyrne4036

As a dude looking for something to ease my skin after peeling and retinol, I honestly have to say that the Great Barrier Relief from Krave is the absolutely winner over these two, which both I have used a lot of times. Coupled with the ABA/BHA/PHA Some by Me Miracle 30 days cream, I have already forgot about the itchiness and irritation associated with potent ingredients like Retinol. Greetings from MX! :B

Thanks for the tip. I'm the same as you acne prone with combo skin. For night time routine you wash your face, wait about half hr or so, put on tret do you wait 15-30 mins then apply the gel? Amount of gel, do you use a pea size amount and put it on all your face? Could I mix the tret with the gel and apply all at once you think? I'm using trer every night now. Did the gel help with dry patches from the tret? Moisturizers (cream version) haven't helped in stopping the dry areas and even if I use tret few times a week same still have dry areas of flaking/dry. Haha. When you tried the Baume did your skin react thats why ya knew it didn't work?

Since I am from Europe where La Roche Posey is widely used and my personal dermatologist recommended (besides other French brands, live Avene line), both of these products are truly amazing in terms of repairing and preserving skin barrier. However, not enough on their own since their primary aim is to lock in hydration. What I have been personally recommended by dermatologist is to use L. P. Toleriane Sensitive cream also packed by soothing and benefitial ingredients, including niacinamide, glycerin and panthenol as well. It's so soft and smooth. Then seal that Hydration with, either Cicaplast Baume cream (in thin layers since it's thick) or Cicaplast Gel. Hope this helps

Hi Sarah I use the baby version of the balm as a sleeping pack mostly, although I will use it on the lips or dry patches etc. The baby version has a slightly better INCI list than the regular version shown. It's very much a balm and skin protectant, but on my pale skin the white cast goes away easily. I use it on my retinaldehyde nights and a typical routine would be: cleanse tone Agame 10 Aveeno calm and restore serum cetaphil redness night moisturiser cicaplast baby balm I can use it around the eye area (despite what it says on the box) and find it occlusive enough to seal in my products with a thick layer applied face, neck and chest. I have super dry skin and this wouldn't be enough on it's own, but realistically I don't think it's meant to be. It's a skin protectant like vaseline etc and I don't use something like that alone either. It's a lot less greasy than petroleum jelly and that's why I can use it during the day, if I need to. The spf is just the balm with added spf and is also meant as a skin protectant layer. It's not an elegant spf, but it's not meant to be really. Just like the balm isn't an elegant face cream. This does (once soaked in) work on my super dry skin under makeup etc, but I am really dry. The best use for the spf version is as a hand spf - works great to protect damaged skin and helps protect the hands from constant hand washing and antibac gels. I hope that helps. I haven't tried the gel version - my dry skin typically doesn't respond well to gel textures as they never feel heavy enough to seal in moisture for me. Best wishes. ps the Lipikar baby AP+M is a lot richer in texture than the cicaplast and I mainly use it at night instead, to seal in my skincare overnight. The cicaplast is something I often use during the day and the lipikar at night. I also don't need a separate moisturiser under the Lipikar - it functions as my night cream and sleeping pack all in one. It's also a better value and can be slathered on to soak into dry skin before bed, waking up still somewhat moisturised. x

Cicaplast is a great multitasker balm. You can use it alone as a calming moisturizer or use it as an occlusive to seal everything in instead of Vaseline because some people don't like the tacky film that the latter has. Furthermore, I always massage it well into my skin until the white cast disappears. Another thing, I tried their cicaplast sunscreen spf50+ and I liked it. It's hydrating and soothing with a great sun protection factor. I think you should try it.

I have one tube 100ml of Cicaplast Baume for about 6 months now. (I used to have Avene Cicalfate+. I liked it more I think. More results on my skin, you should try but it's not cruelty free too...) It's heavy and a little oily but I like it. It has a strange smell but not unpleasant. Something like Playdoh I think... It's not a good base for make up! I use it as a nightmask 2 times a week by itself. It really fixes skin texture and makes it look brighter, fresher, cleaner and smoother at morning. It simply regenerates the skin in a way. And it's obvious! And you can apply your morning products much easier. It helped me many times with redness and small allergic reaction to products. I'm 38, a little dry and sensitive to perfumes in skincare, essential oils, alcohol and too much soap on cleansers. I don't have acne or scars. My skin is thankfully quite clear. So these are my only skin issues... Also helped at some stitches I have from a surgery. And at my boyfriend's sunburning at his back. It stopped the peeling! Personally I will finish it and sadly stop it. It's not cruelty free as you mentioned. Pitty, I really liked this cream. I think a good cruelty free alternative would be Purito Unscented Centella recovery(green). Or some organic 99% Aloe Vera gel with a good moisturizer on top. I love to seal all products with Aloe Vera gel and moisturizer day and night. Try it! If they ever decide to become cruelty free I will definitely buy again! ANYWAY!!! 😆 I really like your channel! You are very helpful, serious and honest and you like unscented and cruelty free products Keep going! ❤️

I really enjoy a lot of LRP's products that are fragrance free, just wish more of them were. I really think the laser is helping. Ive found it helps the most with fine lines. It helps a bit with deeper wrinkles but I think starting the laser before they get too bad is helpful. I also think the laser has helped somewhat with pigmentation and a little bit with texture. It does make my skin dry right after using it, so that's the main downside. I wish I could use it more often but dryness gets in the way of that. I've had mine for about 4 years and it still works like new so it was a good "investment" and I think it's worth considering if you can handle the dryness.

I just watched your video ‘My Plea’, and I have to mention this as I never realized this brand was not cruelty free. 😞. We have this brand locally in Canada and my daughter (19, has eczema) was going to try some products as heard it can be great for her sensitive skin and a little less costly then Avene. She is loving her Avene gel cleanser and face mist and it is cruelty free! Both these brands are here in drugstores, but they are much higher priced then most drugstore brands so little pricey for her to continue with. But so nice to discover the Avene products she has tried work for her. 😁 Something different then Aveeno baby/eczema, so it is worth it! She still uses her Aveeno eczema face cream. No matter what some think, that line saved her, from baby to now and really is a great line for eczema (for her at least) and more affordable. But it’s not cruelty free and why she is trying last half of year to find good replacement. 😢 I think/wish all brands would go cruelty free. Going forward knowing what we know now, we will not be buying products that are not cruelty free. Which is too bad as I know there is great brands out there and maybe some reason beyond their control that they are not but we just cannot support them anymore. 🤷‍♀️☹️

The baume is one of the products I’m buying as soon as it becomes cruelty free. ❤️❤️

Isn't it crazy that LRP still isn't cruelty free. It's so frustrating that we still have to even think about it in 2021.

That's surprising, i would've assumed that the gel is very lightweight & not occlusive at all unlike the baum would be more of a "last step in a routine" type of product! Interesting. Always appreciate your reviews ❤️

I was very surprised as well. I really had it pegged wrongly when I ordered it. Both are wonderful, I just wish LRP made all their products fragrance free!

I think it's specifically made for the European market while the Baume is made more for the American market.

The cream is OK for irritation, altho I think there are others that work even better. Seems overrated to me & it probably caught on cuz so many influencers were going nuts for it. I’ve got my Cicaplast cream sitting around untouched cuz fortunately I’ve had no irritation lately & that stuff is way too thick & pastey to use for anything other than irritation.

I really wanna try this so bad cause i suffer from rosacea and just want something to calm it down but i have very acne prone skin so would you consider this okay for combo skin or way too emollient?
@NOBSBeauty
@NOBSBeauty 3 жыл бұрын
I'd probably go with the Baume. The other one worth considering is the Soon Jung 2X Barrier Intensive Cream, it's a bit more friendly for acne prone skin. The Laneige Cica Night Sleeping Mask is also a good one.

How is the gel much better than a moisturiser with a lot of silicone that might have other beneficial ingredients eg niacinamide, cermides etc please. I don’t really understand how/ why the gel is supposed to be used. I get that the balm is really thick.

Always use the balm when my skin decides it suddenly finds Retin-A irritating, just when I think it doesn’t irritate my skin anymore……

That's so interesting that you mention that. I've been using the altreno without any issues until Sunday. My skin suddenly just got very dry and unhappy. I took a couple days off and now it's just fine again. I was worried it would freak out again but it hasn't, thankfully!

The baume is better to me, because when I have irritation and dehydrated skin the baume is more occlusive. Kisses from Chile Sarah😘😘

The gel wasn't available where I lived and I found it somewhere online. I found it massively irritating, and later found out it was widely faked due to not being available in many countries. It's something to watch out for- my neck was burning for a week!!

I tried using the baume recently and was disappointed. It didn’t help my damaged skin barrier at all. I expected something “clinically” useful and got nothing special. I don’t understand the hype.

I hated the gel. Too much silicone. Here in Europe we have a cleanser and the balm comes in a version with spf 50. I'll take Avene Cicalfate over anything in the Cicaplast line.

I know this brand because I am french. I can tell you that this label is more marketing than efficacy. Here in my country this brand is sale by pharmacy, it is not drugstore brand. So this is excuse to sell it more than it really cost. «laboratory » «medical » «pharmacy » bla bla words to justify expensive price. Lies, as always with big pharma.

You mentioned using gel at end of your routine but if using at night with Tretinoin, would you use FIRST? (Do you still use Tret)? I couldn’t agree with you more that IDs abhorrent that this greedy corporations couldn’t care less about animals and being cruelty free. They prioritize profits over kindness but no surprise there, right? 🥲
