I have seen so many Videos on Affinity Tutorials nobody has ever Talked about this. Looks very Promising !! Thanks for Bringing this to us.

You're welcome augustya, it's a technique I used a lot in Photoshop and a great way to make your colours pop. I hope you enjoy using it. Cheers David

I have watched hundreds of videos on Affinity, but LAB is scarcely ever even mentioned, never mind explained. I use Saturation/Vibrance all the time, but from now on I'll switch to your Preset. Thank you !

Good to hear that you enjoyed the LAB method Seamus Baynes, bring out more natural colours and tones. It is something I've used in Photoshop so was pleased to see I could still use it in Affinity Photo and as a preset. Cheers David

Excellent tutorial David. I was first introduced to the power of LAB in a tutorial done by Ivan Weiss. But it had never occurred to me to save it as a preset. What a time saver!

Thank you Greg Waddell, LAB colour is a great way to boost or highlight colours but fiddly to set up in Curves. Saving it as a Preset makes your workflow far easier :) Cheers David

Oh wow! I have always wondered what lab was all about. Today I know. Thanks mate. Can the same effect be achieved using HSL and masking?
@davro062 жыл бұрын
Behram Cooper, in short no, HSL increases the saturation of the whole image and can look unnatural and masking can be tricky. Vibrance would be better as it detects the saturated area of the image, and even skin tones and protects them while increasing the saturation on the rest of the image. LAB gives a much better and far more natural colour boost to the image. Pleased you enjoyed the video and hope this helps. Cheers David

Another great presentation, is this method used by you in your regular workflow procedure? if so why - thank you for a very interesting and educational video
@davro063 жыл бұрын
Thanks barry philp.:) Yes it is something I use in a lot of my images and being a preset it's quick and easy to apply. As for why... I find it a natural way to enhance the colours but 9 times out of 10 I use the selective method and reduce the opacity to 70/85%. Hope this helps, great question! Cheers David
