Beautiful pen. Pleased to see that the section is a decent size. It would be cool to see finer metal filigree tightly integrated with the plastic body, like when you see filigree embedded in wood.

This is a very nice pen! I have the Laban Galileo, another metallic nice one. Laban converters can be disassembled and cleaned completely, which is Great! Thank you for presenting the Formosa!

Utterly useful. I'm certain that Marcus Aurelius would be one of your subscribers. (Not sarcasm, BTW.) You show the pen in its best light, and is is fine. But, yes, the price. I expect that is is the Jowo nib that makes the pen a good writer. So, the materials. Lovely, yes. But, across the water a bit there are eager companies who offer much the same for rather less. And, with more interesting filling systems along with the overlay. I think we all know what I'm saying here. Nevertheless, kudos to Laban for presenting a nice pen to have and use.

Stephen another lovely review. I believe that Laban is one of those underrated brands, having two of their pens they never fail to write. Regarding price of that model I am sure we are paying for the overlay work, and the final fit and finish. Deal breaker for me is the metal section, I find that I have to continually re-adjust my grip which does not help with my lettering.

Am thinking of getting this pen so thank you for your comprehensive review. Laban in my experience has excellent customer service. I have a Laban Skeleton Gunmetal. After a year I noticed the gunmetal grey faded into silver. I wrote them an email and they replied right back that they would replace the barrel and pencap if I mailed them the parts I needed replaced. I did and a week later I got brand new replaced parts. I havent experienced any fading issues with the new parts :)

Yes, the price is pushing it past its worth, wait for a deep discount, or for a Laban overlay, consider the Laban Skeleton.

When I was a kid, I knew people who were my age then who still referred to the Republic of China, a.k.a. Taiwan, as "Formosa." That was the name given to the island (nation). According to Wiki (which I have no reason to argue with on this point): "The name Formosa (福爾摩沙) dates from 1542, when Portuguese sailors sighted an uncharted island and noted it on their maps as Ilha Formosa ("beautiful island"). The name Formosa eventually "replaced all others in European literature" and remained in common use among English speakers into the 20th century." You not being a native English speaker exactly, and since the Dutch East Indies Company referred to the Island as Taiwan since the 16th century so may probably more commonly did so in Holland for most of the years since then, could be readily excused for not knowing these tidbits and not making the connection to the "ancient" name of the country. But, I remember my grandfather and his friends talking about Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek "fleeing to Formosa" during the Chinese Revolution in the late 1950s. And yes, the anglicized name of the highest peak in the Republic of China is Mt. Jade. Lovely pen. I really like the look of it. I like the size of it, as well. That gray-blue with silver overlay I've always found attractive. "If I win the lottery, etc., etc..."
