Very good review. The transition @6:30 made me think I was having a stroke! 😀 My old Kenwood TS200X allows me to have the same band on both VFOs, so not being able to do this on the 9700 is a horrible surprise.

I want the IC-9700 for receiving digital sats. Is it true the 9700 does not have enough bandwidth to receive 9600 baud signals? Thanks, CE4JDM

Dear Pascal, Yet again another fine walkthrough/review. I indeed agree with you on the quality and performance of the 9700 and along with the 7300 I believe Icom have a true pair of winners. I use my 9700 daily and cant recommend it highly enough. Great Rig Great Review. Keep the videos coming my Friend. 73s Gerry G0PWX

Just brought the 7610, 7300 and the 9700 with all the speakers, quick question for you, I use a splitter cable which is a male 3.5 mono to 2 x female mono at the A speaker socket on back of the 7610 and it is really nice having the 2 speaker working together on both on one VFO or both at same time, is this what you do too? Love the videos by the way always interesting. James G0SEC

Nice upgrade as compared to the most similar IC9100 & 7300. All mode plus dstar 2m, 70cm, 23cm. Very tempting..... Mike N6IMY

I have this radio and love it! Why does mine have 'Digital' printed under the screen and yours has 'D-Star'? What's that about? Different hardware versions?
@Laboenligne5 жыл бұрын
Not sure, maybe different firmware ? 73 Pascal VA2PV
@johnratcliffe64385 жыл бұрын
@@Laboenligne No. under the screen, printed on the case. We're both in Europe, I'd have thought they would have been the same.

Great video. When are you going to demo the Satellite feature?
@Laboenligne5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Trent. I have no plan to do satellite as it requires an antenna infrastructure and I don't have the room for it. I've heard that some satellite is reachable with a vertical if it's true maybe ;-) 73 Pascal VA2PV

Nice Video, thanks for this. Sonething I dont understand is, are you using the Diamond X6000A for both FM and SBB operations - this is what the Vid is saying!? I thought the X6000A is an FM antenna only?
@Laboenligne5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I'm using the same antenna. You can do any modes with any antenna that match the operating frequency. The only downside with this antenna is the fact that it's a vertical and most SSB station will use a horizontal antenna. For line of sight communication (VHF) there's a 20 dB attenuation when not in the same polarization as the other station. But most of my friends have vertical anyway ;-) 73 Pascal VA2PV

In "normal" use, you load 144 MHz memories and can scan just them. And the same for 450 MHz. 2 receivers with independent memories for each band. So if you want to use 1.2 GHz, you have to turn off a receiver that was on 144 or 450 since it only has 2 receivers. Right? Only in "normal" use. In "too cool" use, you edit a copy of your DR Memory file that comes with all D-Star repeaters and whittle it down to your Top 10, or 20, or whatever your favs are - any band, any mode, simplex, D-Star, whatever. And when you press the DR button, all of those are presented. You can then scan and not miss out on 3rd band action using only 1 receiver.

Paschal, please make a video using satellite transmission and DSTAR, how to configure ???
@Laboenligne5 жыл бұрын
Hi, I don't have any antenna system for satellite operations. I know it's possible with only a vertical antenna but it will be harder. Will see. 73 Pascal VA2PV

Will this radio do cross band repeat??
@Laboenligne5 жыл бұрын
Usually this is an undocumented feature for many radios, since it's very demanding on the transceiver. But maybe there's a way to do it but I couldn't find any info on that. 73 Pascal VA2PV

This is an over kill for just repeaters, ideally you need to be chasing dx on vhf/uhf and satellites to get the most, otherwise just buy a dual band!
@Laboenligne4 жыл бұрын
You are right, but the good thing is that this radios will provides many years of discoveries, even if it's only use as dual band transceiver from the beginning. Usually it's not the first radio a new ham will buy, it's mostly a radio for advanced users for advances applications. 73
