Nationals Senator Matt Canavan claims the Labor Party has “botched” the re-opening of Australia’s border pos-COVID as the country faces high migration.
“They let the floodgates open and completely lost control of our border,” Mr Canavan told Sky News host Paul Murray.
“Now once the horse has bolted they are saying ‘trust us, trust us, we will close it now’.”

If you believed Labor then you & other Labor voters are the cause of all the shit we are in. Labor has never done any good for the country except for welfare & migrants they always have attacked the workers.

Family reunification comes up - Sam Crosby immediately launches into a story about one French guy he knows. Meanwhile we have every man and his dog from Asia, India, the Middle East, Pakistan, Afghanistan and the wider African continent coming here - then bringing in 40+ family members. Jesus Christ. No wonder we can't have a sane conversation on how this stupid rule has caused so much havoc. If you miss your family - GO BE WITH THEM.

I don’t believe Albo botches anything bad, it is all planned. He stuffs up when he does something good ( whcich come to think of it, Ican’t think of one good thing he has done). So, he is doing a good job at being crap.

Sam is on cuckoo land, no people shouldn’t bring their elderly parents out, even with surety it still doesn’t cover the cost on going to the hospital or a rest home and I wonder if it’s like the UK where people on student visas can bring their entire family out on their visa??? The problem with these types of visas is that no one plans for the infrastructure to cover these people. That’s also a cop out by Sam stating that if infrastructure was easy Labor would fix it, but as Paul points out they only look at the GDP and tax.

The State Governments are responsible for the cost of infrastructure. Federal government reap the benefits of high immigration no brainer for them .

I have an issue that I believe should be addressed. How about this. When a Prime Minister retires they get a car, a driver and an office, and I understand a nice big fat $120 000.00 pa for their income (I'm happy to be stood corrected if I'm wrong). Now, I'm retired and I don't get a car, a driver and my own office and a nice big fat $120 000.00 pa. So why should they? I worked hard my whole life to save up for my retirement, so I can't see why they aren't made to do the same thing.

Didn't we have a border problem when Rudd/Gillard were the the acting government. Labor, and now we have the same problem with Labor again.

Yes exactly, I thought that was the worst govt possible in history but here we are again, worse than ever. Among other things the Rudd/Gillard govt managed to even lose Australia’s AAA rating which was getting expensive with all the money they were wasting as only Labor govt’s know how to do, Julia wrecked the cattle industry overnight, the boats were flooding in, immigrations was out of control, inflation was up, NBN & asbestos mess, insulation stuff up, solar rebate scam, all the usual hallmarks of a Labor govt. Interestingly I see wide spread blackouts are again expected throughout NSW & Vic this next season after all Labor’s spending on green energy & they think we can support a EV utopia in Australia, this will only get better if we scrap their stupid WEF UN net zero agendas & either use the resources we have or ideally go nuclear.

I'm married to a Filipino & I can't by land or house , can condominium, I am on belief if you can't buy in another country , they can't buy one here. Simple as that . Australian governments federal & states should do what they can to help young people get into home market. It will be a investment that will be better than superannuation funds , which is run by Labor friends the unions. Which could be parsley used to buy one surley .

You are idealistic, but also naive. Our governments don’t operate to help us - the last 4 years should make that clear. We are ruled by tyrants who really need to be kicked out and put on trial, then we need to start over again, from somewhere.

Usually I agree with Paul Murray on a lot of issues and I definitely agree that immigration rates need to be decreased significantly, but I seriously disagree that parents should be blocked from joining their children that are now Australian citizens. Healthy family structures are critical to a healthy society, and most will agree that grandparents are an important part of the family unit. As Sam Crosby said, there are ways to ensure that they don’t become a burden to the Australian taxpayers!
