It amazes me that the government involves itself in business projects, they break everything they touch, and the energy needed to run industries in Australia is being reduced by the use of unreliables, all caused by the government, they should stay out of business, totally inept, and squander billions of taxpayer dollars through lack of business skills, most of the government members are l Ex solicitors, hence the overregulation of everything that needs to happen,a complete boondoggle, overpaid and inept!

Etc etc A blind person could see this is a Loss of skills, loss of jobs…this is all unbelievable…what a waste of money! If there is a genuine desire to get manufacturing back, then create the tax conditions and investment incentives such that the PRIVATE SECTOR can thrive. The job of government is not to build industry; it’s to remove the punitive conditions that act as a brake on investment and entrepreneurship. As if a department full of bureaucrats with appropriated money - from the citizenry - will achieve anything meaningful.

Mr Bragg, you may not be old enough to remember the vibrant manufacturing economy Australia used to enjoy. President Clinton announced the pivot to Asia in the 1990's. Our manufacturing industries fled Australia with the help and encouragement of government. Our current Quarry / service economy is not working. We definitely need to reconstruct a modern manufacturing culture in Australia.
