This is worse than you thought, you wont be able to homeschool just because you don't like it. As part of the same legislation, in the name of increasing attendance, they require you to have a valid reason for your child not attending and the council will now keep a register of all children. Saying that you don't like your child identifying as a cat while woofing and biting the postman's ankles will not qualify as a valid reason (and would most likely get your child extra credits). This will be the last defence for protecting our kids gone - In essence our kids will be owned by the state.

I love the idea of home schooling, but in practice, I dont think it can work for most people. Most people have forgotten the basics taught at school, never mind the more advanced math and stuff. I'd fear there would be a generation that's dumber than the ones teaching. I beat my mum at a spelling test when I was about 10/11 years old, Imagine she was the one teaching me to spell.
