The winter fuel payment is NOT means-tested! It is being given to pensioners who are NOT struggling with the cost of living, and often to people who spend the whole winter in a different country in the sunshine. It's being taken away from people who can't afford to put their heating on, and will end up blocking A&E spaces this winter from health conditions made worse by the cold weather. Starmer is a liar!

What is the cost of providing flat screen TVs for illegal migrants and asylum seekers and who pays their TV license fees. How much money is spent giving mobile phones to these people. How much does it cost to feed them. How much does it cost to house them. How much does it cost to protect them how much does it cost to give them medical treatment to provide dentistry ( which I cannot get here in Cornwall ) and so many other things they get for free which we the taxpayer have to stump up for. I gather under the freedom of information act that should allow us to know these things, we are told the information is to be withheld on the ground of safety and mental issues for these people. We don't need to know where they live but we would like to know the costs and I see no reason why this should not be made public knowledge.

As an active 75 year old pensioner who worked and paid his taxes for over 48 years it makes me feel so proud and special to have been chosen by Kier Stomer to be a part of the demographic chosen to spearhead the fight to "stabilise the economy" through the removal of my winter fuel payment. Watching the daily arrival of so much cultural enrichment and diversity is really heartwarming too knowing that our Oh so caring establishment and political elite are falling over themselves to provide these parasi...... people with EVERYTHING they need for a comfortable life to the tune of £8 million a day, part paid for from the additional tax I now pay from a very meagre occupational pension due to Fiscal drag! @user-im8us6sg5d some of us are just over the tax threshold and pay 20% tax....the pension increase has been quoted at £400..take 20% that's £320..take the winter fuel £300..so £20 is the real figure x I was on pension credit and my husband passed away...so I was given a percentage of his pension in leu of widows pension. They added everything together so it takes me to just over the tax allowance x But we've all been herded together and segregated into the poor..the just getting by..just about managing and the millionaires. I personally don't know any . I'm waiting to see if the 25% council tax reduction dissappears. If it does the funeral I've planned for by way of life insurance will now be a straight cremation as I'm damned if il pay to be taxed to be buried . And I'm going to swear..Holy shit !!!!!

I'm a pensioner who has been, and will be hit by Labour who I have little doubt WILL do this. However, I want to speak for the other half of people who will be hit by an abolition of this single occupancy concession. Twenty-five years ago, I was still working and was the single occupant of my property, a house I had gone without a lot e.g. a car, holidays, to get. I earned less than the national average wage, even in my forties. Across the road, a house in the same C.T. band was occupied by five working adults. This regressive tax should be scrapped, not altered to make it worse.

There should be no council tax. It’s unapportioned and not properly means tested. And unfair. Couples effectively get a discount a single person pays 75% of what a couple pays. It should be 50% for singles. We’re being penalised for not being in a relationship!
