We are still far from that, as far as negotiation for a new national minimum wage is concerned. Organised Labour has vowed to reject any little addition to 60,000 naira earlier proposed by the Federal Government as a new minimum wage. Speaking on the knotty matter, the President of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, Festus Osifo said Organised Labour is not insisting on 494,000 naira, but on a substantial amount. Lending their voice to the debate, lawmakers elected on the platform of opposition political parties in the House of Representatives, urged the Federal Government to implement a new minimum wage of more than 100,000 naira to assuage organised labour
