Andrew Marr speaks to Nick Ferrari in an instant reaction to Labour's victorious and historical landslide.
In his first speech as Prime Minister elect, Sir Keir Starmer has said Britain has the "chance to get its future back" after Labour won the General Election.
Andrew Marr tells Nick Ferrari that he thinks the next few weeks 'will be absolutely hectic'.
'If he fails to deliver the change he has promised people, I think the democratic reckoning in four or five years time will be horrendous', says Andrew Marr.

Top priority must be to get the NHS waiting lists down across the UK. But I’m not sure how they’re going to do that. It’s not just money that’s in short supply - staff and infrastructure sadly lacking too. I’m really not convinced that Labour will sort this within their 5 year term 🤔

As far as the migration problem UK needs to negotiate a trade agreement with African Union (AU) ; Bring work to the people. The resources African offers will be a benefit to be negotiated with AU to bear in mind. Factories will offer opportunities for jobs to workers in AU and trade benefits and protection will be to benefit to industries to operate in the AU…a win win for all.

The Tories committed suicide. At least half of Tory voters were NEVER going to vote for an Indian PM, however rich he is. They either didn't vote, or voted Reform. Sunak did NOTHING to convince them that he was seriously concerned about immigration. NOT ONE PLANE LOAD left for Rwanda. He had plenty of time but he didn't want to do it. Expect a HUGE swing to the right.

Well it certainly is celebration day for the 33% of the country that voted Labour. personally I just feel a sadness for the less wealthy in this country, the people that the Labour party was set up to represent. they will be thrown under the bus by this modern day version of Labour which will only be representing the interests of their affluent middle class own. To anyone who isn't affluent middle class who gave Labour their vote? I'm afraid you've served your purpose already, I wouldn't hold your breath about life getting easier anytime soon.

Nothing is going to change with Labour in power. If anything else, it will definitely become worth. What is the difference between labour and conservatives in foreign policies? Jetting to USA and NATO for the instructions, flirting with EU, supporting sanctions that make this country poorer. Congratulations, Labour voters. You did it to yourself. If you wanted a real change, you should have voted Reform.

I hope people are going to enjoy those tax hikes because they are coming. And it will fall upon the middle classes. It’s what you voted for remember that. And when nothing improves who you going to blame? What we are going to witness is more of the same just worse. I just hope all those at LBC don’t lose possession of their critical facilities. After this period of Labour government people will realise the two main parties are dead and maybe then we can get what we desperately need.

Interesting facts: 1. Only 60% of eligible UK voters bothered to vote. 2. Of those that bothered, Labour took one third of the votes. 3. THAT MEANS 80% OF ELIGIBLE UK VOTERS DIDN’T VOTE LABOUR, AND THEY WON BY ‘LANDSLIDE’!😂

"moving back to the single market and customs union....". There are no such options for a third country like UK is. As an EU member you are in the single market and customs union. Three EFTA members and 27 EU members and EU itself are in the EEA the European Economic Agreement that is the single market of today. The options for single market access are: 1. Applying to join EU. Since UK is a former member Article 50.5 of the treaty of EU applies and it says: "Any country that has withdrawn from the EU may apply to rejoin. It would be required to go through the accession procedure." 2. Apply to join EFTA ( Norway and Iceland will block it). Neither the EU, nor its current 27 member States, are members of EFTA. After Brexit, the UK, not being a member of EFTA, and not anymore an EU member, could not be an EEA member and could not be a candidate to become one. Article 126 of the EEA states that the Agreement shall apply to the territories which the Treaty establishing the EEC (today the EU) is applied and to the territories of Iceland, the Principality of Liechtenstein and the Kingdom of Norway . These three States are members of EFTA and, in accordance with articles 108 of the EEA Agreement, have established the EFTA Surveillance Authority and the EFTA Court. Both these institutions are only competent for these three States. Their role is to ensure the fulfillment by the EEA EFTA States of their obligations under the EEA Agreement. They are not competent for Switzerland, despite this country being a member of EFTA. UK as a third country cannot establish these institutions. Procedurally, in order to become a member of the EEA the UK would first have to present its candidacy and negotiate and conclude an accession agreement to become an EFTA member according to article 56 of the Convention establishing the EFTA. This is because the EEA cannot apply to non EU member States, with the exception of Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, precisely because they are members of EFTA according to article 126 of the EEA. Thus, the UK will have to negotiate an accession treaty to EFTA with the four members of this organisation: Switzerland and the three EEA EFTA members. Once becoming an EFTA member, the UK will then have to negotiate an EEA accession treaty with the 31 entities which are members of the EEA: the EU, its 27 member States and the three EEA EFTA members. The Parties could agree to proceed to both negotiations at the same time.
