nice to hear you guys picking up the correct construction lingo now. You can now start saying "CFA piles" instead of drill holes and fill with concrete, CFA = Continuous Flight Auger Piles - the auger drills down but then actually pumps in concrete as it extracts the hollow auger. This way the sandy and probably saturated coastal ground does not collapse in on itself. The reinforcing cage is then vibrated into the wet concrete. Sometimes they are just doing ground improvement and will just mix in a grout as they extract to create stabilised unreinforced earth columns.

There is really nothing special. Its all been out lined in the 1950s and it is still a long way to get there. The "others" all want to make only one rocket a year, charge big money, and pay little for the work.

SpaceX is poaching a lot of engineers from the big defense contractors. What decent engineer wants to work for a company where they'll have a few projects in their career when they can oversee a few successful projects every year at SpaceX?
@aiasis39832 ай бұрын
SpaceX must have an editorial writer for the "minutes of the day" ? That would be a alotta jargon and mechanical knowledge to discern from a video.

Not sure how high up the catch arms can go but hopefully the higher up the better for a booster catch ! I say its highly plausible to catch it just judging the accuracy of F9 boosters landing on a moving drone ship. ! I been waiting years to see this ! Any anomalies just even a couple miles above the tower im sure elon will press the big red rud button
@back2basics5972 ай бұрын
I wonder how big the explosion will be if the chopsticks fail to catch super heavy. Would the tower survive? It will be done eventually but the first try would be terrifying I imagine.
@stevenscharmer17652 ай бұрын
Due to minimal propellant left, the explosion might not be so big. However, I'm worried the booster could careen into, or not be caught and then bounce and tip into, the tower and cause a good bit of destruction that way. Could set them back months or even a year.
@MichaelWinter-ss6lx2 ай бұрын
Second launch tower in progress. A failed catch would automagicaly dig the flame trench for OFT1.

Could the ‘bouncy’ catch arms be making Space X reconsider the whole catching idea?
@Liberty4Ever2 ай бұрын
It does seem that the engineering for the chopsticks isn't up to SpaceX quality. It's rocket science so I'm sure it's not as easy as it looks, but it's not a 3D printed version 3 Raptor engine either.

So now we learn that Astronaut spacesuits of Boeing and Spacex are not compatable !!! What is going on with NASA - they spent months reviewing and approving these spacesuits - these space suits have been in use for years, and NASA just admits now the spacesuits are not compatable ??? Spacesuit designs are actually quite an engineering feat - but NASA spent years on this. This is pathetic - some persons at NASA need to be fired ! Hasn't NASA heard of 'adaptors' ??

Elon, you and your choppy-stick butter boy team better start working on a SOLID ROCKET assisted chop stick arm closer. There is no other way to do this to catch the booster in the required time. Better get the butter boys busy and get the engineering done and hardware built, installed, and tested,
@absolutelyindustrys58842 ай бұрын
Why soild rockets when they can't be turned off and they already have Draco or eventually mini raptor, just seems like a little much to develop that kinda thing for that kinda fix
@gregggrina32402 ай бұрын
@@absolutelyindustrys5884 It's technically called a kick motor. a very small motor(s)(custom size thrust) to give the arms some instant momentum and that momentum in the arms can be slowed down very fast if they need to adjust the distance to the booster body. What they got going down now is "stinking thinking".

SpaceX wont launch for several months. Right now SpaceX is launching rockets and supposedly generating hazardous waste water without a permit. So SpaceX will have to prove to the EPA and FAA that they aren’t generating waste water or tear up pad A and put in a flame trench. Either that or wait for Pad B which will take a year. Either way there is no quick answer for SpaceX and even if they choose to not try to catch the booster, they still have to deal with the wastewater issue. A permit will take months, proving they don’t need it will take months, building a flame trench will take months and waiting for pad B will take a year so looks like no launch unless Elon is positive Frump wins and he launches again without the permit and hopes Frump can get him off. And I think he does literally.
