Did this video really do a history of the Georgia Dome without the 1996 USA Women's Gymnastics and Kerri Strugg moment?
@LaBreeceTV2 жыл бұрын
What this channel does is really unprecented. Few if any have attempted to tell the story of a sports venue from start to finish. Wikipedia does an ok job of telling you some of the basic highlights and lots of people have blogs where they extensively talk about the events a venue hosted but anyone rarely tells the full story we do in Modern Ruins. Unfortunately in bringing together information from all the various resources things slip. It hurts when its something obvious or something that people alive/aware during that era would vividly remember, but it happens. I'll look into kerri strugg and the 1996 olympics and the magnificent 7. I do keep notes on things like this in case i decide down the road to remake the video, so thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Crazy how you could spend millions on a stadium, just to tear it down in 20-25 years. It would make sense if the stadiums were not built correctly, but other than that, I don't understand how you could throw away a perfectly fine stadium that could have all those problems fixed with one renovation or two. It's like Globe Life Park in Arlington, that ballpark was closed way to early. I understand the heat problem, but it's not like it lasted all year. I understand that it could be a problem for players, but when players are wanting to join a team, they're gonna want to see if the team will actually win or not if they join, not about how the stadium gets hot for a few weeks. The former Dome had potential to live out it's useful life, with quantity being made for prosperity. Yeah, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium is great and truly out the ordinary, but that could have waited for another 10 years for consideration of being built. It's like renovating an old house 5 years prior, only to tear it down to build a new one. You just wasted your or taxpayers' money and time for all that effort.
@LaBreeceTV2 жыл бұрын
You can compare it to Seinfeld or the Beatles in that Arthur Blank and the GWCCA saw the end before everyone else did. I agree it could have waited, but that is more of an obvioius decision in hindsight because of the pandemic. To be honest, MBS hosts the same or less events than Georgia Dome did. The only big event I feel like that came as result of replacing GD was the super bowl. However, MBS was built to maintain the status quo, and not change the city over again. With the only exception being that it is designed with soccer in mind and is much more catered to soccer teams and fans than GD was in anticipation of bringing the World Cup to the US and being home to the United. One question I do have is what does Allegiant and Sofi have that MBS doesn't that could have justified waiting to build the stadium in terms of amenties and design features.

It was entirely foolish to get rid of the Dome and Turner Field imo…absolutely nothing wrong with either of them. Complete waste of money!!

They didn't get rid of Turner Field, it was just remodeled into a college football stadium

Will you be doing an episode of the Seattle Kingdome (1976-2000)?

Did this video seem slow, choppy, or just right?

*Seemed just slightly choppy at times, but for the most part - just right.*

I loved the Ga dome and the new “stadium“ but I believe Atlanta has the perfect weather for an open air stadium

good video about the history of the Georgia Dome and all events it hosted..The final ruling of the 2013 NCAA Final Four was a Louisville player could keep the record of the Most Outstanding Player, but L'Ville couldn't keep their 2013 championship..Anyway, the Georgia Dome held a lot of football games (Peach/Chick Fil A Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Super Bowls, Falcons games, and SEC Championship game)..The Georgia Dome also hosted multiple NCAA Final Fours, Atlanta Hawks games, and ACC and SEC Tournaments..The 1998 Falcons were very good and entertaining and made the Super Bowl..The 2016 Falcons actually won their NFC Championship game at the Georgia Dome..The Georgia Dome did go through renovations..This is a good video ⁉🎥💺🏈🏀🏟🎤The video failed to mention two movies were filmed at the old Georgia Dome..Drumline and Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk were filmed there, and I saw both in theaters!! 🤔

Being a Bama fan I had the opportunity to visit here MANY times and there was not a finer dome. The seats were great, field views were great. The MBD is completely different. Seatsare far away, the amenities are over the top and the damn annoying train horn. I have nothing but great memories of the best dome that ever existed.
