there's a few things to take into consideration. the first being the guy Pestily shot in the back was a low level Bear, judging by the rolled sleeves. so that would mean anyone else in the room would have to have been a part of his team. and yes the AI scav aggro'd on him is always a tell-tale sign. your eyes may be untrained at the moment, but with enough experience, things will start to make sense

I was thinking about this myself and I think it might be because two lasers are easier to see than one, and when you lean around corners you'll always have a laser on the outside so you don't risk having a laser being useless just hitting a wall.
