Hello, great video. What Windows 10 or 11 license must be used in the virtual machine so that it is later replicated on the virtual desktops? Or is it necessary to activate it later in each one with another license? When I run Sysprep with Office installed, I get an error when running it. Does it have to be a specific version and license? At 18:00 I ran into the problem that the role installation failed saying the RD-Virtualization Host role could not be installed on my VDI-host VM. The problem was that my VMs run on a physical Hyper-V server instead of VMWare and I needed to activate the virtualization features for my VDI-HOST VM by running the command "Set-VMProcessor -VMName VDI-HOST -ExposeVirtualizationExtensions $true" in PowerShell on my physical Hyper-V machine. In case anyone else following this tutorial is also using Hyper-V instead of VMWare and running into the same problem. ;)

Hi, great tutorial. I have a question. When I get to creating a template for a Windows 10 machine, I can't get the network adapter to work. The status said undefined network but I have a IP address from the DHCP server and I was able to ping the host, but not the RDS or DC. Any help with the Virtual Switch Manager Setting? Thanks

Hi, is there a need to put HV01 also into the domain? I would like to have HV01 in my MGT LAN and the RDS01 in my Office LAN. Therefore I can not connect the HV01 with the RDS as they are in different LANs.

VLAN will not have any issue, you just need to make sure RDS Server is able to access hyper-v host from network and dns.

Vikas, how did you configure the DHCP scope on the AD machine, to give IPs to the VDIs? And how did you configure the Hyper-V Switch on the RD Virtualization Host in order to make it act in bridge mode, so that the VDIs are on the same network subnet as the "physical" servers? I was struggling with it; the VDIs are not able to connect to network, so I was required to put them in another subnet and create a New-NetNat + New-NetNatStaticMapping for them, which is obviously not good. Thanks in advance.

Nice Work , but i have one Problem .... after the Step with the Sysprep the maschine is Shoutdown ... on my server manager i want to create a Collection i find Nothing ;( and also i have a Virtual Switch .... but i have no Internet Access on my Template is that important ? The Sytem has all Services on One System (its for my Training Projekt) because the Pandemic must be all Portabel , so i have a ESXI Hypervisor with Server2016 and on this Server2016 runs HyperV ;(((((

A VDI once running cannot be used by another user? Say in your example you have 3 VDIs, if there are 100 users going to login to it will there be an overload on the resources?

Yes it you want 100 users to login in same time, then you need 100 VDIs.

Also this can be problematic with licensing of MS office as this is a TERMINAL SERVICES offering that requires enterprise office licensing . So you cant use office 365 at all... Costing a ton since you can use 1 license on 5 devices per user and most people have a office pc and this VM..

I NEED YOUR HELP - VM guru guy. My lab has been taking too long time to finish up. I got stuck on this issue. Please help. I tried to add Hyper-V Manager on one Windows Server 2019 Virtual Server, which supposed to be a straightforward thing. But it came up with an error " Hyper-V is not configured to enable processor resource controls. On my research, I found Powershell command recommended to fix the problem "Set-VMProcessor -VMName -HwThreadCountPerCore ". But when I tried this on the VM, it failed. The physical host machine bios processor is virtualization enabled. How do I install Hyper-V manager on VM Server that I wanted to use for testing? if you find any solution to this, please post your solutions. Thanks

I rebooted the virtualization host and after that could not reconnect to the vm. Not sure if DHCP related. Do you have some advice pertaining to that.
