Lace 3.0: The Arts and Crafts of 3D Printing

Can lace be the stuff the future is made of? The 2021 exhibition ‘P.LACE.S - Looking through Antwerp Lace’ expressed MoMu’s take on the topic, suggesting how heritage & craft can indeed be both repositories and sources for the development of new artistic, productive and creative languages. In this video, curator Romy Cockx describes the show and its enchanting objects, focussing on the special project of a 3D-printed handkerchief inspired by the one depicted by Peter Paul Rubens in 1615.

Does it feel like rubber or latexy to touch?

Not sure if you have access to a 3d-printer, but when i print tpu (flexible filament) on a standard hobby grade machine it feels like rubber. Maybe a different kind of texture can be achieved on more advanced 3d printers. I would highly recommend you to check out the KZbin channel "sew printed" if you want to find out more about 3d printed clothes and fabric. She did print 'lace' too.
