I love your video tutorials! They are easy to keep up with and the fact you actually show every step is amazing. I have watched so many knitting tutorials only to find myself confused, lost and scared to step outside my comfort zone. But watching your videos I feel confident in trying more than the knit stitch and purl stitch! Thank you so much! I will refer to your videos often!

I am such a fan. I just found your videos a couple days ago and I've been watching, so enthralled, ever since. As a beginner, it's so nice that you're so patient and repetitive with your instructions. Your work is lovely, your videos are clear, and your voice is kind and articulate (and as an American, I naturally find that UK accent to be rather soothing and unoffensive). I was just watching your vintage lace scarf tutorial, and I have to think you SO much for your tip about threading through a "lifesaver line" -- another problem with being a beginner is that there's a crippling fear of dropping a stitch or having needles fall out and having no idea how to salvage it (as a veteran crocheter, I'm spoiled haha). I cannot wait to practice more and improve until I can tackle one of your beautiful, beautiful projects. Thank you so much for your work!! Subscribed. :)

Thanks so much for purchasing the written instructions. It's proving to be quite popular, (because of the stitch by stitch video guide) Good luck with the knitting! I must get around to filming the matching hat to this scarf. A stitch by stitch guide for that too!

Hello. I am coming back to knitting after a 10 year break and am so delighted to have found your channel and website - really inspiring. I am really excited about attempting this scarf and going to order my wool. Could you (or anyone) give me a rough idea of how much wool I should order and whether standard aran would be ok to use. I am a very basic knitter but the instructions are so clear I thought I would give myself a challenge. Many thanks...
@TheCastingOnCouch10 жыл бұрын
I would recommend up to X4 170 yard hanks, (4 x 100g) of Quince & Co, Osprey Yarn in Carrie's Yellow 125. An aran or chunky yarn using a needle size ranging from 5 to 6mm (US: 8 to 10) may be substituted. Good luck!

Email me for a copy as it may be a little while before I manage to put it on my web site. (Find my email address from my web site). A blanket would be great. Use multiples of 16 then add 9 sts if you want the selvedges to look like mine.

Your work is turning out much neater than mine. I'm using alpaca yarn, and I think I'm using a pretty loose gauge, but my work is more scrunched than yours. Will this be fixed by blocking? Am I just having this issue because I'm using a different yarn material than you or am I doing something wrong?

Hi, it's there written instructions?
@butterfly487510 жыл бұрын
Hi there! The 16 stitches +9, is that +9 for every additional 16 you might want to add? Or is as many times 16 repeats you may want to do the no,us 9 just once sorry I'm new to knitting lol! I mostly crochet which is one stitch on a hook at a time, much much easier! Any formation you can provide would be really helpful, I love your channel! :)
@TheCastingOnCouch10 жыл бұрын
The 9 is added to the total multiple of 16 stitches that you decide upon. So in this scarf I use two lots of 16sts = 32 sts plus 9 to give a total of 41sts to cast on. Say if you wanted it slightly wider you could do three lots of 16 = 48 then add your 9 = a cast on of 57sts. The 16sts represent the number of stitches needed for the pattern to successfully repeat itself. The 9sts are for creating a balanced selvedge to either side of the work. Hope this long winded reply makes sense!

I counted several times and started over several times and the stitches after you add the actual color of the scarf comes out as if your missing a stitch can you respond to help me see if I'm counting wrong or casting on wrong Thx

Hi, I'm pretty new to knitting so it's entirely possible that I'm missing something but I haven't been able to figure out what I'm doing wrong on my own. So I've done the cast on and the 3 rows of waste yarn but now that I see the pattern for the actual piece I cannot for the life of me see how that pattern comes out to 41 stiches doing 2 repeats. I've counted it several times and keep getting a count of 43. I know this can't be right because the piece isn't supposed to increase in size but I also can't figure out where I might be going wrong in reading the pattern. Please help, this is really bugging me!
@f8aw8suw8c46 жыл бұрын
You are missing the part of the instruction before and after the * 16 stitch Repeat* With the 9 extra stitches, each row instructional has you either knit or pearl or other, either 4 at the beginning and finish the last 5 stitches after the repeat, or after the *.
@butterfly487510 жыл бұрын
Sorry typo, then plus 9 just once that should say!
@f8aw8suw8c46 жыл бұрын
Not a typo, as they are typically written as multiples + #. Experienced knitters are familiar with it written as thus. You will never see it written as multiples plus # just once.
