You should stay overnight at Lachung, and start early next morning. Yumthang valley is about 25kms from Lachung located at an altitude of 11,800ft and takes about 1.5 hours of drive. Yumthang Valley is popularly known as 'Valley of Flowers'. It is at an elevation of 3,564 metres (11,693 ft) above msl at a distance of 150 kilometres (93 mi) from the state capital Gangtok.
🔘 How to reached Yumthang or Yumthang Valley Sikkim :
There is no direct way to reach Yumthang Valley. One has to first go to Gangtok and get a permit to visit Yumthang. Due to its proximity with the Indo-China border, getting a permit is compulsory before one can visit the enchanted valley...
• By Air :-
People traveling from other regions are required to first journey to Bagdogra Airport in West Bengal, from where one can catch a cab or prepaid taxi to Gangtok, which is located around 125 km away. Proceed from Gangtok to Lachung through a cab change, which will add another 4-6 hours to your journey. It usually takes an entire day to reach Yumthang Valley after landing in Bagdogra.
But the journey is too long.....
So it's better to night stay in Gangtok(Near MG Marg) and the next morning
Start fresh from Gangtok to lachung by cab, which takes 4-6 hrs, from there Yumthang is near about 2 hrs of journey.
• By Railway :-
If travelling by train, the nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri, West Bengal.
Some travellers may also choose to travel via New Jaipalguri Railway Station(NJP Station), which is located around 125 km from the capital, and is accessible through buses and taxis. From Gangtok, a cab change is required to proceed to the village of Lachung, from where Yumthang is a mere 2-hour drive away.
• By Road: The town of Lachung is well connected by road and is at around 113 kilometers from Gangtok.
🔘 Best time to visit Yumthang Valley :-
• From March to June is a good time to visit the Yumthang Valley as the flowers are in full bloom.
• If anybody wants to see heavy snow he/she can enjoy a lot....( December to January best for heavy snowfalls)
But difficult to reach the yumthang valley due to excess snowfall...Similarly Gurudongmar Lake can't be reached...
October to 15th November and March to April months are ideal to go to Yumthang valley, Gurudongmar Lake, Zero point...
