(1) River Sutlej formed one of two tributaries of Vedic Saraswati. Fed by River Tons(Tamas - out of Saraswati glacier) Drishadwati formed the other tributary (today's Yamuna). (2) Drishadwati entered the plains earlier at Adi Badri and then went westerly to form Saraswati. Due to earthquake, around 1800BCE or earlier, it came through the Yamuna tear fault at Kalesa - in short it entered plains at Kalesa (today) instead of Adi Badri. Eventually Drishadwati went east forming Yamuna and into the Ganga system. (3) Sutlej takes a sharp turn west at Roopnagar as was pointed out in this wonderful presentation but earlier it used to traverse east wards joining above Drishadwati to form Vedic Saraswati. River Sutlej is potentially still moving and in 100 years it has shifted 16KMs to the west from near Budha Nalla near Ludiana.

Correction: Indus does not reach Gilgit city rather one of its tributaries named Gilgit river joins indus at a place called Bunji about 80 km south of Gilgit city. Bunji also famous for being a junction of three great mountain ranges namely karakrom , Hindukash and Himalayas. Further info: Notable western tributaries of Indus are: Kabul river, kurram river and Gomal River; which originate from Afghanistan and join indus at Attock district(Punjab), Mianwali district (Punjab) and D.I khan districts (kpk), respectively. Tarbela Dam (biggest earth & rockfill dam of world by volume) is built across Indus River at Swabi & Haripur districts ( kpk).

Hello sir, Little correction- Chandra river originates from Chandrtal lake and Bhaga river originates from Surajtal lake. Both in Lahaul valley of Lahaul&Spiti dist of Himachal Pradesh Also one important point to add into this video is that confluence of river Sutlej and Chenab forms another river - “PANCHNAD”. It is Panchnad that merges with river Indus at Mithankot and not the Chenab. Panchnad- Panch +Nad - five rivers (Chenab+Sutlej+Beas+Jelum+Ravi)

Well documented lecture. Chenab and Sutlej meets at Uch Sharif and the combined flow is called River Panchnad. Panchnad flows about 40 KM and join Indus at Mithankot. This detail also could have been included and it would have been useful to readers. But as stated earlier, the lecture was good and sound/voice control was excellent. During Vedic period Jhelum was called Vithasta, Chenab as Chandrabhaga ,Ravi as iravathi, Beas as Bipasha and Sutlej as Shathadru.
