@@possumverde the former director of the secret service said herself they didn't post anyone on that roof because it was sloped (even though the roofs they actually did post ppl on were a much steeper grade). Local law enforcement told SS they needed to post someone there and they were ignored. That isn't extreme overwork.

Looking at Trump's first assassination attempt, you'll notice that right after the shots were fired, everyone's attention was immediately focused on either the shooter, Trump on the stage, or the other victims. Security guards quickly surrounded Trump, but his head was still clearly visible and exposed. I'm not sure if those security agents were prepared for the possibility of multiple assassins trying to take advantage of the chaos from the first round of shots and attacking from other directions. If they had been thinking ahead, they could have whisked him into a bulletproof vehicle and disappeared from the crowd within minutes, before anyone could fully grasp what had just happened. Ideally, there should have been a few bulletproof vehicles parked next to him, ready to pull him inside and drive away if such a scenario were to unfold.

First time a President has had so many properties expected for SS to cover them all at all times whether Trump is present or not. Trump should have less say in where he chooses his venues to be held. The SS knows best on the vulnerabilities some of his choices present and he needs to be amenable to their best guidance in such.

Just like anything they have this big flashy system to make everybody look and feel safe, but the system doesn't get tweaked it doesn't get tested, these guys get high on their own presents and think that they're invincible and nobody would ever try and crack through just because they're so used to being in this autopilot mode. They clearly have no real plan to communicate or execute with locals if something actually happens. It's more about setting up and looking the part of actually being the part.

Well what do you expect on short notice? As President, they took three days to secure a golf outing for him. Give them ~1/5 the amount of time, get 1/5 the quality.
