IIRC it was after they visited Victor and his home and when Freckles and her had the tuna sandwhich from the sink. Rocky asks her to scout out the place and she goes into the car and all like "Hum" and angry, and 2 panels later she waved her tail and goes like "Ok :D"

The word is a lot older, and some uses in British English were very derogatory. There is a chain of Pre-WW1 usage which was quoted in US newspapers, young women who performed as energetic dancers on stage. The British women workers in WW1 also attracted the label, a shift in fashion and the political changes being involved. I can see a reaction to some of the old meanings, with the implied prostitution, but that detail of the British usage may not have been in the initial pre-WW1 quotes seen in the USA.

I love that no one has commented on the actual dance she is doing, if y’all wanna know it’s called “mashed potato” or at least that’s what pops tell me. I took me a week just for the footwork, I then decided that I didn’t want to do the upper body portion so I put a 2023 spin on it for the upper half. AND GOD DAMN DOES IT HURT THE FEET AFTER A BIT. And what I like about Lackadaisy is, unlike a lot of 'Funny Animal' comics, it's not hyper-sexualized. I mean, Ivy is gorgeous, and other than her narrow waist and girlie girl smile, nothing gives away she's a girl. No Uber boobs, nothing. I think the best way I can describe it for me is the charm of Lackadaisy comes from the fact that the art fits into a cohesive imaginary world. Meanwhile a lot of furry art is pretty clearly just the artist indulging their pathos. There's a big difference between art with context and without.

My only guess is that swing is a timed dance with timed music. (Think box step 1 2 3 4) it’s just faster paced. This means that in theory a perfect dancer who is just doing one section of the dance, in this case the bit where you step away from your partner would look like a perfect loop.

My Dad was born in the same year prohibition started in 1920 and he used to tell me stories about prohibition that he heard from his Mother and Father in Dallas. Of course, I got confirmation from my Grandmother about some of the shenanigans done in some of the Jazz clubs in Deep Ellum just east of downtown Dallas. Later years, I went to Deep Ellum and Lower Greenville to sample the Jazz/Blues clubs and remembering the stories, I kind of understood how things were then. So, yeah, I learned to kick it and my soul belongs to Jazz/Blues ever since.

after watching ivy dance on repeat, I noticed that her foot work along with her dance animation was in tune with the rhythm of the first song whilst mostly in tune with the second, in other words: she is (almost) dancing exactly on each beat of each song. which is insanely impressive, especially since she was dancing for a straight 12 minutes!
